No I was fried yesterday and the last thing I wanted was to deal with a dealer. Went for a bike ride instead and made some new friends.
I also am a little overwhelmed with costs at the moment so it’s a mental block. But $25-35k needed for HVAC repairs, $4500 for brick pointing, 2k school bill for the kid, and this at 34k. It’s just a lot for me at $70k of cash outlay needed pretty soonly.
why not buy something gently used then and save ~10k?
Go look at what’s available for 10k. I’m not into wrenching on anything at all. 25k seems to be the baseline for something half decent used. Under that the miles start to get really high or the condition goes to crap. Of course there’s something like a Jetta but I’d rather not.
Really we have the cash from prior house sale. And I’m only considering cash for the car because finance rates blow right now.

That’s like a decent annual salary pre tax. No joke
That’s all an additional need on top of the $18,000 we have already spent on home repair since moving here in October.

if you really do the math, its only a like $1k of money over the life of a 6 year loan. financed $30k on 36k M4 72 mo at 7.0% via chase with an 850 credit score. Just pay extra monthly and take the plunge. Id much rather keep my cash on hand for house shit and life.

I mean options are there... but they are boring. If the CRV works for family duty why not just get a throwaway commuter ?

as a fellow rate whore. I understand. I did the math and the difference in increased rate was worth holding onto some cash IMO.

I don't mean a 10k car. I mean something gently used under 30,000 mi that will be about 10K less than the equivalent new model.

As soon as my company gives me a written confirmation that I have the position and a date I’m expected to show up to the new work location. Been over a week and I still don’t have that because they can’t agree on a release date for me. Apparently I need to stay in my old position for another 90 days.

Well at least you get to make an informed car decision now as apposed to a bum rush to get something in a week.

Yeah, I was thinking Forester Wilderness. It'd be a safe choice. There are a TON of options in this segment, tho.
Jp now hates cars. He needs to just get the toyota / honda / nissan CUV that he can get best

on
have you seen the specs on the new rogue specs, that'll give some of his ptsd of his GTI experience.

What about a Civic hatch? New they start around $25K, they have tons of space, 38 MPG highway, really nice interiors now.
Something about the five seat CUV category is just too depressing to handle. I like the Mazda suggestions as well but I think JP mentioned not liking them before.
Maybe a GTI complete with sunroof
Im already kinda

with how my accord with 19 inch

behave in dc roads, GTI

My dad rented one of those last time he was up. It was a top spec model with leather and all. It drove like total crap with a harsh suspension and buzzy 3 cylinder that shook the whole car. The CRV is a Lexus in comparison.

i've seen a few of these in the wild now. holy
Ive had terrible ideas of trading the wifes wagoon and my truk in.
but both are paid for and well-maintained. It would be extremely foolish in the current economic outlook.
