This kind of crap has been my biggest issue with buying anything new. It's hard to justify it when other people are going to ruin the thing unless you never drive it.
You just have to accept that 12 bucket method and 9 layers of ceramic coating are pointless for a DD. Cars get used... you can do 10 years of DDing and the car will slowly get worn out with dings and damages. Such is life.
Nothing new is “collectible” anyways so enjoy it, until it turns into a pile which is a ways away.
Where are these mangos?

I don't understand anything anymore.
FJ Cruiser pricing is all over the place. Something with 100k miles can either be $15k or $25k depending on who is selling.
Fleds ‘yota dillership has a green one that I might see about test driving if it’s still around this weekend. Never driven one and want to see what they’re like behind the wheel. Could be a thing instead of an early JK.

I fell in love with the FJ when they first came out. I was a writer and had a few press loaners, they're really awesome vehicles.
Only thing is I missed the open air element. For a toy, to me open air is critical. Otherwise, they're awesome...just seem to be a tad overvalued like everything in its class these days.

Agreed on the value part; I hadn’t looked at them because everything under 200k miles was 20 or 30k+ not too long ago. Seems some people are getting closer with prices in the low to mid teens, which isn’t terribad for the segment.

I avoid this shit by parking away, but more importantly picking the right spot. One next to a planter, and hugging it so close another 2mm would be curbing your wheels, or a extra wide spot, every lot has a few. Also, I look for one with no trees so the birds don't shit on it.
Sucks man, but it looks like that scrape will likely buff right out.
Whenever I do this, I find that 40% of the people parking next to me park according to where MY CAR is not where the lines for the spot are.

My issue with them is that they aren't really good quality inside.
My friend has a school bus yellow version he bought new and after the first year with a few times going on not exactly extreme trails it was a rattle trap inside.

That is a real thing as well.
I swear, as I get older I'm more and more tempted to carry a church key to go apeshit on cars. I never thought I would feel that way, but today there are way more inconsiderate assholes that don't know how to drive/park, or what's going on around them.
For those that are wondering what a Church Key is... here you go:

How would you compare it to your JK?
The JK was more solid for sure. The only issue I had with my JK was the center console liked to come loose at the front from the way the carpet was tucked up under it. The FJ seems to have issues in the pillars and dash that are more ear level and drive me crazy.
Also, these were my comments based on a new one and what it costs. I didn't see the value. However, at a low price under $20k I could overlook a lot of that since a good JK is more.

Just put your silencer on and punch a few holes in them.

Just wear riveted jeans and make sure you let them know how close to you they parked by how you struggled to get into your car.
Not as malicious as a church key

Maybe just go Bedazzled?
That's a severe departure from my normal style, but it might be worth it.

With the mirrors adjusted correctly, visibility isn't as big of a deal as people make it out to be. But it still feels claustrophobic inside.
For someone your size I can see this. The rec match paddles are though. I kept hitting them by accident after shifting.
Something you don't do after a couple days.
On my Z51 I hit them a couple times, but mainly because I wasn't used to anything with "shift paddles", especially not a manual transmission car. After that, you pretty much forget about them.

Y’all are assuming mouth breathers are going to take notice of any scratches you put on their pos cAmry. They , they will probably barely see a missing bumper.

THis is what I do, not always possible but I am willing to walk as far as I need to in most cases to keep things safe. They do still take dings and scratches here and there, but you can definitely minimize it.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that I usually back into a spot if the curb/planter is on the right, so that I don't have to go between the other car to get in/out.
Rental in Vegas was a brand new 2020 Hyundai Elantra from Alamo. Side note, Alamo was awesome and I'd get another vehicle from them, you get to pick the car out of the lineup and all. It was this or a handful of Sentras so it was an easy pick.
This car didn't suck. It's slow and passing power doesn't exist. 2400 RPM at 80 MPH. Averaged 41 MPG for the 500 miles I had it. Held its own on a back road and was still fun to drive. Good ride quality. Super quiet on the highway for a cheap car. Top notch infotainment, worked better than any system I've tried using.
Solid entry in the compact cheap car segment. Enjoyable, if forgettable, car.

I've always rented from Alamo due to price, and it's always a fantastic experience. I even rented from Alamo in Germany and it was great.
