Also, I had a joke that landed real far off with @chalupabatman's new GF. My first meeting her with him went well. Beers had, good time all around. I caught a ride home with them. Her sister live's near my house but in the same hood as

i couldnt recover from her being so angry for jokingly saying her sister living in a $250k house instead of a $500k was "poor".
My city is divided down the middle by a major road. For some reason, one side is big houses on big lots, the other is small houses jammed together on small lots. City is called "Pleasant Ridge", but most refer to the smaller side as "Peasant Ridge".
We met some people that just bought a house on that side, and I told the woman "Welcome to Peasant Ridge"
She responded: "why does everyone keep calling it that?! We're not peasants!"
My wife: "But to us you are..."
Woman:
Most people are used to it and laugh it off, others get really touchy.

Oh, same here! The "poor side" of our city is nicer than any of the surrounding areas. Most people know it's a joke.
