Hey Max, I'm WFH today with a slow start. We had my kid's 6th bday this weekend, friends and their parents on Sat and immediate family on Sunday. Both kids at a Chill Vibes outdoor camp with some granola bat eating hippy lady running it. They are in okay hands. Just got away from the computer and will go for a dip in the pool. 83 degrees and sunny is
Tomorrow is an early wake up and a fun filled day in a hot plant to calibrate some servo driven welding guns. The RX-plant is getting retooled so I visit that place twice a week to support tech issues. It's my bread and butter for the next couple of months.
How was your weekend, how's life on the west coast?
Oh, speaking of the west coast, sky was hazy from the BC forest fires! It's record breaking hot out there.

That's why I was so surprised by the haze here. Fire season doesn't "usually" start for another month or so at the earliest. The fact that fires are burning so bad in CANADA that the smoke is blowing 2k+miles away is just insane at this point in the year. When actual fire season starts,max225 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 19, 2021 4:17 pmAnd our fires haven't kicked off yet. 2-4 months of absolute horror left. We're still a drought in northern MI. Detroit is flooding like crazy, people are losing everything in their basements and freeways are closing down for days at a time because rain is so severe. Our friends this weekend told us they got 3 inches of rain in 3 hours last week. That's insanity. Meanwhile, 200 miles away, we're concerned about fires when we never had to before, and water levels continue to drop at rates. We had to pitch in to help a neighbor move his boat hoist because the water dropped so much that he couldn't safely drive his boat onto his hoist. Mine is in all sand, but if I had rocks like he did, we'd be moving ours too.

Yea I got a butch looking neighbor with a raised JK on some shitty wheels/tires. She fucking blasts down the street at 50-60mph... the speed limit is 25... No idea how to solve that.

Most people who rent don’t give a shit about their neighbors

I grew up on a mostly rental block and it was the closest block I've ever lived on. Kids were always in each other's back yards or houses getting fed and disciplined by friends moms, We shoveled each other's sidewalks. One year, during our infamous Blizzard of '79, (23" of snow in 1 day) one neighbor was pregnant and the block got together and shoveled the whole street, curb to curb, in one of the coldest, snowiest winters on record, just to make sure she could get to the hospital with no problem. People started their cars so we could get in to warm up as needed. People brought food and booze out to us shovelers. This was all spontaneous and awesome.

Hard to give a shit about most neighbors who don’t care for you. We say hi/bye with our next door and across the way neighbors. Our above neighbors have a kiddo close to our kid’s age, so we do play dates and gossip and whatnot. However, I can’t say I give more of a shit about most anyone else in the complex.

Hah. That’s awesome. Too bad that doesn’t exist anymore. New generation of young people are nowhere near that.wap wrote: ↑Mon Jul 19, 2021 10:59 pmI grew up on a mostly rental block and it was the closest block I've ever lived on.
