Nice interior. They look great, too.

I almost bought one… but the
Agreed but seems too far from his original asks. GTI ticks all the boxes while refraining from being depressing.
Even I, serial Cross-Tranny hater, have to admit that this packs a lot of punch for 30 grand brand new.
The lesbian car brand continuously improved it over the generations and even though it has a continuously vaginal tranny it seems to be decent to drive, very reliable, easy to maintain and gets decent MPGs... sadly it looks worse in the current gen but it does have more space than prior. It seems to check all the boxes... and it doesn't depreciate much either.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2024 11:28 amEven I, serial Cross-Tranny hater, have to admit that this packs a lot of punch for 30 grand brand new.
mean streets of philly, 2 kids, 1 dog, and one wife will depreciate anything new 50% in 2 years.max225 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2024 11:31 amThe lesbian car brand continuously improved it over the generations and even though it has a continuously vaginal tranny it seems to be decent to drive, very reliable, easy to maintain and gets decent MPGs... sadly it looks worse in the current gen but it does have more space than prior. They are even discounted locally

Thought about this but something like a GTI is better for my use case I think. That hatch is more of a trunk with a lift back. Same as the current civic hatch.CaleDeRoo wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2024 8:37 pm https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/inventory ... NE/DEFAULT

Interesting statement. They’re depressing if your intent is to drive fast. You can’t drive fast around me. Highway are 55 mph. Main roads are 35 and back roads are 25. It would be nice if the CRV had a stiffer rear sway bar and about 30 more hp but really it’s so comfortable and since it’s a series hybrid it never shifts. It’s really quite nice and relaxing to drive.D Griff wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2024 4:56 pmThe new new is a lot nicer IMO.
yes the five seat CUV is depressing in how it drives but also just the overall blending in. I mean, if you can't beat em, join em I guess.
When did they stop making Mazda 6? Those were huge inside and pretty nice and great on gas.
With your use case it'd be hard to go wrong with a Subaru. The whole point of them is to be durable and offer pothole-smashing ability. If you need more cargo room an Outback would be perfect, the cargo area is enormous, but you're back to dealing with the big screen. In turbo form they're not terrible to drive, but the n/a 2.5 kinda sucks. It's a lot of car for the non-turbo engine. The 2.5XT is as quick as anyone really needs.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2024 1:56 pm Thought about this but something like a GTI is better for my use case I think. But I really don’t want a GTI. In that case from VW honestly the Tiguan is more interesting to me because it’s so much less stressful to drive a CUV. But then the fucking dog can’t get in it again.
Been trying to identify what we want it to do has been difficult. Do we need it to hold the two kids or not? 1 kid and a dog? The whole fam plus dog or not?
The CRV does mostly ok with whole fam plus dog but there’s no luggage room then. V60 is marginally better maybe. She doesn’t want a big vehicle.
Yeah outback has been brought up a few times in our discussions. Worth a look if I can find a turbo one. I guess the info screen could be manageable.coogles wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2024 2:17 pmWith your use case it'd be hard to go wrong with a Subaru. Plenty at the $30k price point. So should just cut it.
I have no input on the V60, but when I was considering the Outback XT I had no complaints with the CVT. The fake shifts were convincing enough and there's plenty of torque. The only thing I remember hating was the stop-start system, it was unbelievably bad and obtrusive, but the button to turn it off was buried in menus. 99% sure that's been fixed via software updates and now it's right on the main screen.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2024 3:14 pm Plenty at the $30k price point. So I think it’s either that or the V60 CC.
Read a bit that the SPA Volvos including the V60 Cross Country have an issue with the disc brakes / pads shuddering. Forums suggest the fix is aftermarket rotors and pads. I don’t really want to tackle that in my driveway.
V60 - possible brake issues, premium fuel at $1 more a gallon
Outback - screen of death, possibly annoying to drive due to CVT and turbo lag
Dunno which is better.
