Any dime over MSRP is not alright IMO. Especially if resale is a concern. That's money lit directly on fire, never to be recouped again. Patience is key
Felons.

One of the Toyota called me back yesterday, and while I always hate shooting people down, it was kind of nice to say 'hey, I'm buying the Subaru instead because they aren't marking up the price'. At least I can be one data point of a lost sale because of this fuckery.

Man... 50+% over MSRP for the car.
My BRZ build is $3K more than the Civic's MSRP and $7500 less OTD.

@Max what about a GLI? Autobahn manual trim is like $32k and it isn't the new BS touch interface.

Everyone bemoans the Hyundai “dealer experience” but in my experience Honda has been the absolute rock bottom. 3 of 4 Honda dealers I’ve dealt with have been sleezebag shitty sales tactic markup felons.

Buying her Sonata was the smoothest, quickest (barely more than an hour), least hassle buying experience we've gone through to date. OTD price was negotiated via email and text and we just went in, given the keys to drive it without the , then went in to sign the papers. T'was easy peasy.

I’d rather have a GLI than a Civic SI.
Test drive both a GTI and GLI and figure out what you like better. Ultimately I would rather get fucked by depreciation than pay markup for a slower/less fun car.

If we are talking a vehicle, and with Max we are always talking a vehicle I would certainly take the GTI over an SI. I could get over the fucking buttons for a year in exchange for more power and hatch.

Max will never own a Jetta. Fundamentally there are too many base Jettas owned by poors out there.

A base manual Jetta with manual is $20k. Gets 40mpg average and still has a turbo. This is what he should do if we're all being honest.

Not really. I’m also looking for a little teeny bit of fun. a base Jetta is shit I might as well get a 1997 Camry and line up for food stamps.

GTI runs a mid 13 second quarter, traps @ 105. Si is 15.1/94. While pretty impressive for 1.5 liters, the GTI is a completely different league. Max likes the 65 inch Samsung in the Tesla, so who cares about overrated knobs and buttons?

I still can’t believe that a bunch of reviewers said it “feels slower” than the Si. What the actual fuckery
Which ones said this so I can avoid them?

So ladies and gents … almost bought a car today!
Drove the 22 gti, they are made in Germany again btw ! Surprisingly there are quite a few in stock (10per dealer ) around me but dwindling fast …
I have zeroed in on the basic bitch “s” which is actually standard with quite more features than previous gens. Safety tech, digital dash, auto climate, decent stereo, supposedly led headlights but a different type, limited slip, semi powered seats (seat back), a fucking heated steering wheel, heated seats, keyless etc.
Mk8 criticism is overblown. Infotainment is fine, yea yea blah blah buttons oh buttons and knobs. The touch screen is quick and works just fine.
Base stereo is decent
Digi dash is way better than mk7.5 gen
Shifter and clutch are great
I did think it didn’t have as much space as I would have wanted especially out back. If they got smaller.
Long story short … on why I didn’t buy it… it was supposed to be a dealer to dealer transfer … which my dealer tried to stop… but couldn’t do it… so I ended up walking on the
31.7k msrp + tax and 0 fuckery. So it’s 1/4 tesla and probably a cartel condo in the bank. Don’t see how I can go wrong here other than buying a white one so that everyone still thinks I drive a mk6 from 2011.
