Tempting to off it and try the one car lyfe, but my gym is just far enough away that it’d be inconvenient for Michelle to be carless for that 2-2.5 hour window, especially since that’s usually when she finishes working for the day and likes to get the doggie out to a park or something.
Those upper quotes are complete insanity. Not worth sowing the seeds of divorce though.
The question is what customer is walking into carmax looking for a 20k 4 year old Elantra with a dick stick

I really should have snagged the $18,555 or whatever madness carmax offered late last year. Straight $5k profit in 5 months of ownershit.
I mean $1K profit for 1.5 years of ownershit or whatever is still pretty damn dece. Interesting that CarMax is coming in hot with these high ball offers. I'll have to give them a go on the Beemah.

Might as well. The gravy train is done at any time. Cash in while you can. New cars are being produced every second.

Agreed, I don't get it.

Same, which is what makes it so tempting. I don’t especially hate driving the thing, but it gives me no joy, and if I don’t off it now then I feel like I’m leaving money on the table whenever it gets offed in the future since I don’t see myself driving it until the wheels fall off. Doing so would be the fiscally smart move, but man that cash grab is tempting. Ride out the insanity as a one car household then pick something decent up at a reasonable price in 6 or however many months.

I probably won’t make a move and just keep cucking in it. I don’t want a payment in the future and we’d like to buy a house once that market corrects a bit more, so needing to buy a car in 6-12 months would put a damper on that.

I mean some of you need to consider that if you're giving up a car you're going to BUY in again... for now that is NOT possible. Unless you're trading for something super cheap or not driving. Otherwise there are no savings.

Exactly. I don’t know how long the market will stay high and I do too much driving with even more on the horizon for the next couple of months. It’s a fun idea, but just not practical for me/us. I’ll just sit back and  with those who are able to pull it off.

I guess the idea would be sell Elantra for 16.4k in hopes that that same amount gets you a better car later. I’m doing the worst thing, new car on order, baller offer expired yesterday. Hopefully they stay high for a bit.

That's not the worst thing. The worst thing is to trade BMW at a low price and pay markup on something new + adding extended warranty and shit for a nice $900 a month payment.

:bruh: I don't think 'no mark up' is anything special on a GTI. It's just like the WRX, no one wants 'em.

Good. You can give the definitive answer on the lack of hard switches being NBD or immediate seppuku. Then flip in 9 months regardless.

:bruh: 83% of cars sold in the US in the last 3 months had markup. :yikes:

But yes GTI is a tough swallow usually... they depreciate about 10k in the first year with a 3k tax... which isn't insignificant.... Ya'll think i can get 23k for a 1 year old gti with 12k miles? seems "reasonable enough"

The civic # will be likely 1/2 that, but there are NO hondas anywhere. My local dealers have 5-12 hondas each... they used to have 120-300..... The VW dealer has 120 cars in stock

I think poverty spec has a couple knobs so it shouldn't be as bad as the upper trims.

Yea and it looks like it is not in stock after all, it was a "dealer transfer".

I am just looking for a basic bitch S with the donkey rod.

Actually they are no where near new... they are around 23-5k depending on spec. Higher trims get absolutely no premium.

So I called my local Honda dealer... and he mentioned they have gray one coming in 2-3 weeks and a blue on in mid august. The price was 5k markup but he immediately lowered it to 2500 as "best case".... even with markup it seems more reasonable than a golf at 31... they would be at price parity but the civic has a better interior + stereo.

That said... I guess I'll have to "wait".

$2500 over for an Si is honestly kinda alright. You're at $30K at that point, will still be cheaper to own than a MK8 GTI at sticker by my estimation, and is also a better car by most journalist standards.

Any dime over MSRP is not alright IMO. Especially if resale is a concern. That's money lit directly on fire, never to be recouped again. Patience is key

Tell it from the mountaintop brother. Over MSRP is for a 911 GTS Sport Chrono yo, not a poverty ricemobile.
