I got as far as rule #2 and realized that the entire Grand Bend Ontario council is just one giant HOA :lolol:

They are extra daft.... its a tourist town. they need tourists. if they stop the tourists they stop the money, and the economy of the town tanks along with property value.... why is this hard.

So they are either clinically retarded (possible due to inbreeding), or the council members are feeding them with bullshit so they could get re-elected. I'm sure they'll have to run some of their policies by legal and half the suggestions will get wiped out, like a two tiered garbage system, one type of property owner gets fined if it's out too early while another type doesn't. But let's say that legal is also inbred, then our group will be pooling money together to challenge fines to individuals and hopefully change precedence.

If all of that doesn't work, and they still plan to turn the beach town into Leisure World for Olds (TM), then I'll just watch it burn. In five years they will magnify the already ugly situation we're facing on a macro level and it will force change on it's own. Nonetheless, I'll probably sell the place in the spring if the market is still palatable. I found peace with their stupidity.

Had to grab Michelle from the airport last night around midnight. Decided on staying up until it was time together at her vs sleeping for a few hours first.. around 10:00 I took the dog out for a walk around our complex. Get back to our place and realize I locked myself out. I knew Michelle hadn’t brought her keys, so I couldn’t just wait for her to land and Uber to our place. An hour and half wait for a locksmith and $160 later I was in the house. Annoyed at myself lol. Got in just in time to grab my keys and cruise to the airport to grab her.

That sucks. I long ago got myself into the habit of never leaving the :haus: without first grabbing my keys. Though none of our doors are self locking when they close...

Ours aren’t either.. I usually have my keys with me, but didn’t grab them for some reason and still reached back to lock the door as it was closing behind me. Luckily it was just the bottom knob/lock that was done and the deadbolt didn’t need to be fucked with at all. That probably would have cost a good bit more.

This is why every exterior door on the house has a keypad. I don't even keep keys on me, I just have one hidden outside in case somehow all the keypads failed at the same time.

And it doesn't need to be some :fancy: wifi keypad shit. Just an OG Schlage 9V battery keypad. Can store 10 different 4 digit codes, just remember one and you're good.

Yeah when we have our own place we’ll do that for sure. Our house we rented in SD had it and it was so nice. We need to give a key to friends and/or have one hidden somewhere in the meantime though.

Yeah I got a poverty Kwikset keypad for like $50 or so, it's been nice.

I also had a key mishap recently though :lolol:

We got :drunk: Friday night at :tits: friends house, so we took a Lyft home (~2 miles). Since it was so close, I decided to just jog over Saturday morning to retrieve the Beep Beep. Well, I get there early-ish, 8 AM or so, hit the unlock button on my fob, nothing happens. The key fob is one of those key blades and the door has a regular poverty lock, so I unlock and open the door, immediately the car alarm starts blaring. At this point I almost just ran out of there again to save the embarrassment, but I get in and try to start the car. Boom, no key detected, won't start. At first I'm panicked and almost asked :tits: to drive the BMW over with her keys (she hates :manuel: though and would've :sass: ). Then I think, surely there's a way to do this. Upon Googling, it turns out you can press the button with the top of the fob and then it'll start even if the fob battery is dead. Fortunately, upon starting the car, the alarm turns off, I just booked it out of their neighborhood.

Well, fast forward to yesterday morning, I've been going to the hospital from 6-9 AM as that's the only time I can really go with work and stuff. I had to move the Beep Beep as we have a single width poverty driveway. I of course took Allison's key to do so as I didn't want to sound the alarm at 5:45 AM. Then I pocketed the damn thing and left... I then had to call her as she was getting ready for work and break the news that she'd have to do the alarm/fob press thing :lolol:

So, by Max's standards, this 2020 :jeep: is now presenting 'old car shit' problems - dead battery.

To me, this is yet another thing to add to my :disgust: with push button start, what was wrong with just having a fucking key?!

Wow, the keyfob battery died fast.

Push button start only makes sense when it's tied to the door handles so the fob never has to leave your pocket ever. These half assed implementations would be better with an OG key. GMs stupid ignition switch shit :triggered: the industry and killed traditional keys.

Change the battery in the keyfob and :aintcare: from there.

I actually didn’t mind having to insert my key in the Jeep to unlock the doors. Manual shit just lasts forever.

:ayfkm: a key fob battery takes all of $.50 and 2 min to change and you clearly didn’t get stranded the situation is quite different Imo.

I keep 4-10 battery spares for each key fob in store. And the battery in the tsx key fob is original… while it’s on the 4th main battery btw. :disgust:

Yep the total basic spec has its advantages. I would hate to not have AC and Bluetooth streaming, those are really the only two luxury features I require. Power anything? :aintcare:

My mk6 and my mk7 were both push to start. My mk6 for 2.5 years, the fob never died on, but it did on the mk7. Over a year of ownership I somehow couldn't unlock the car, granted it still has the switch blade and can practically enter the car, but cannot started. However, I had an :alpo: luck, it happened in my gym at the time and theres advanced auto parts on the same building, so $10 later changed the battery. So far I've done it 3 times throughout the ownershit.

Sometimes I'm not sure if I'm feeling more like an hotel employee or a first responder. I'm doing overnight at the hotel right now even though i'm not scheduled for it, all because we have a stereotypical Nissan Altima driver didn't show up without a call.

That mf didn't even care enough about his job to inconvenience his night with a call in to say he aint coming. I'm envisioning that level of DGAF at the front desk check in of a hotel, and it gives me the lulz, people just don't care to work anymore.

I worked the front desk for a Night Shift …. Long time ago. Didn’t call in sick once … always showed up on time.

This is the downside of 3.5% unemployment. Jobs are easy to come by and there is no need to put your best foot forward. Unfortunately since there is no real ladder to climb… good job performance is not rewarded

Batteries tend to die faster in fobs that aren't used often. I don't know why, but this happened in our JL back during Covid. We used the same fob all the time with that thing, and the one we never used was dead a year after we bought the Jeep. It made zero sense (and still doesn't) so maybe there's something up with Stellanus fobs.

The first vehicle I had that used push button start was the ATS, and I was so concerned about being stranded that I looked up how to start the thing with as dead fob as soon as I brought it home. In that thing, you could put the fob in a spot on the center console and start the car. All GMs are like this.

So when I got the JL, I assumed it was the same. I was bitching to someone at work about the stupidity of not including proximity unlock doors, and somehow it came up that the emergency state in a JL was to press the fob to the start button.

:wat:

So emergency states aren't even standardized? What a joke. This reminds me, I need to look up the procedure for the 4R.

So emergency states aren't even standardized? What a joke. This reminds me, I need to look up the procedure for the 4R.
VW's are like this. You touch the dead fob to the spot on the steering column where the key start used to be. There's even an embossed graphic on that spot that indicates this. I was out with some coworkers a couple of years ago and my fob died. They were all :mindblown: when they saw me pop off the cover near the door handle to access the :manuel: key slot to get in and then start the car as described above. I told them their cars probably all had similar setups but NONE were aware of them. They just all thought that a dead fob = stranded. :really: :derp: They all asked me how I knew this and I said I read the :manuel :iono: and they were :amaze:

Batteries tend to die faster in fobs that aren't used often. I don't know why, but this happened in our JL back during Covid. We used the same fob all the time with that thing, and the one we never used was dead a year after we bought the Jeep. It made zero sense (and still doesn't) so maybe there's something up with Stellanus fobs.

The first vehicle I had that used push button start was the ATS, and I was so concerned about being stranded that I looked up how to start the thing with as dead fob as soon as I brought it home. In that thing, you could put the fob in a spot on the center console and start the car. All GMs are like this.

I’ve never had to replace one before I don’t think, even in the Corvette. Pretty :aintcare: though, obviously a simple fix. It’s just funny that if I was too dumb to Google it, I would have actually been stranded. I’m guessing 50% of people would’ve called a ride :derp:

Weird. It's true though, :tits: fob gets used pretty much every day, the second one maybe once/week. Her keys are bulky with a bunch of pointless :bs: so whenever I drive the :jeep: alone or with her I just bring the spare/my key as I hate putting her :bs: in my pockets.

This is the nice thing about proximity entry. :tits: leaves a 4R key in her purse and never takes it out. It doesn't have a bunch of shit on it because she pretty much forgets it's there. As long as she has her purse (always) she can get in and drive the truck ZFG. Which is why I'm adamant that the only value to push button start is if it's paired with proximity entry.

I have my 4R key always next to my wallet, and it only goes in or out of my pocket with my wallet.

Sometimes it's the little things that make your day.
