I just had a wonderful guest that lives in Charlotte as well. They departed yesterday from the hotel, I was doing the overnight due to staff shortage. They've been at the reagen airport for a while till they realized their flight was delayed till 8 am. I received a call around 12 AM that their flight was delayed and needed another night. I worked out a deal with them, they came and then left around 6 AM.
Also DCA truly sucks, I had one guest just a week ago, which as their plane got to the gate, the baggage handling employees are going home. People were waiting for their bags over 6 hours. That guest happens to be one of them, it's just insane. She was heading back to Buffalo NY and apperently her flight got cancelled due to "bad weather".....in the heat wave

I used to be all about driving to FL, miami. 17 hours plus staying somewhere for one night. Now flying is better, quicker in everywhere. Especially if you have limited time. For me i'll never fly to new york, pittsburgh, philly, ohio cities, etc because its not that far from me. I can stretch for Boston but it is an 8 hour drive, have done it a couple of times. Trains are actually quicker and cheaper by car if you book ahead of time or go during the week.max225 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 1:13 pmStupid shit like that until you're stuck behind a flipped semi for 10 hrs... shit happens everywhere.MexicanYarisTK wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 1:11 pm

Truth be told, that florida roadtrip i used to do with family and now have done a few myself in recent years. I can admit the first 8 hours is boring af, until you get to your first buckee's in NC. Couple cute towns aka Savannah or Charleston (maybe hilton head) which does put a good highlight of your trip

I think 5 hrs is just about the break even point. It is usually better to drive anywhere within 5 hrs of driving range... anything post that it's better/faster to fly.MexicanYarisTK wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 1:24 pmI used to be all about driving to FL, miami. 17 hours plus staying somewhere for one night. It's usually 1-1.5 hr flight+1hr to airport +1hr ahead of plane +1 hr after airport to get rental car etc... so 4.5hrs total travel min with no delay for a 1 hr flight vs a 5 hr drive and you're your own boss.

As someone whose been in hotels in DC for a while. I can concede quite the majority of new yorkers come to dc train. With family on the other hand it is usually with a carmax225 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 1:27 pmI think 5 hrs is just about the break even point. Finally ordered a weed whacker (weed eater, weed whip, string trimmer.. whatever the fuck everyone calls them). Sticking with the 80V Greenworks Pro stuff. Didn’t get a battery with it since the mower came with two and a single batter in the mower has been good for 3 full mows so far with no charge needed. 17” trimmer with 15 spools of string and a little back strap, to help with weight distribution I guess, for $180 from Costco. Was hoping to find one in their warehouse and save the $10 or $15 they bake into the online price for shipping, but no luck.
Grabbed some paint samples to do an accent wall over the weekend too and threw them up.

I like the right, michelle like the left. We’ll probably do the left because
We bought a green, but it’s not as dark as we would want. Might test one other green to compare to the two blues.

She's not telling you what color to order your 911.SAWCE wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 3:05 pm Finally ordered a weed whacker (weed eater, weed whip, string trimmer.. whatever the fuck everyone calls them). Team right. Greys are on their way out as a trend and, for a single accent wall go bold.SAWCE wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 3:05 pm Finally ordered a weed whacker (weed eater, weed whip, string trimmer.. whatever the fuck everyone calls them). Yeah that’s my general mindset. She sounds like she cares more about the color than I do, so fuck it.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 3:38 pmSuch an easy giveaway here. But hey, maybe we’ll both love the dark green sample we grab and decide to run with that.

Dang I think MIL just swayed Michelle to my blue
Our couch is a grey leather, and her mom pointed out that the grey blue wall would be too close in color to that and end up clashing. I don’t even have to be the bad guy.

If I'm travelling by myself 10hrs is when I start to consider flying. I get to leave when I want, stop where and when I want, eat when I want, arrive when I want, and flying anywhere is $500 now just to risk what Dan went through.max225 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 1:27 pmI think 5 hrs is just about the break even point. Add one person to my trip though and I'll typically nope right out of driving
