i asked our AI tool something:
Make this sentence less harsh sounding "If the fabricator has to confirm every single weld location, why hire an engineering design firm"
responses: Here are a few more alternatives:
"If the fabricator requires guidance on weld locations, it might be helpful to engage an engineering design firm."
"For assistance with confirming weld locations, consider consulting an engineering design firm."
"If verifying every weld location is necessary, hiring an engineering design firm could be a good option."
"To ensure accuracy in weld locations, you might want to involve an engineering design firm."
the
thing is... WE ARE THE ENGINEERING DESIGN FIRM. Our Canada office is clueless

The way they are putting in field welds to splice all these modular build racks together is crazy. Splices in the middle of the rack. Racks not tall enough to do FMU 90° expansion loops, so they are using 45's. pipe sleeve pads instead of shoes.
Its buildable, but its stupid.

I'm dealing with a fab shop right now that can't read design drawings.
It's not necessarily anyone's fault, aside from the client who in an attempt to expedite manufacturing, bypassed a steel detailer.
I did get a chuckle from explain that a "PLAN" view is from the top down.

Are they US based? Canada and Europe use different weld symbols, and use them differently than we do.Melon2.0 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 19, 2025 8:41 am![]()

5mm Maple Syrup, grind smooth
They're in south Louisiana.
And, this is much simpler than weld symbold.
Australia also has their own but, they're pretty close to our's.

Were warmer than miami right now as we speak. It has been a while since we had a summer with 100 degrees. Didn't even wanna be outside for a minute, it truly gets to you.
Kinda reminds me of my time down in south turkey as a covid getaway where i unintentionally get siestas.

So in the latest episode of how life keeps throwing punches at me. Saw the dentist yesterday. They found lots of buildup under my gums and needed to do a deep cleaning. Turns out I have beginning stages of periodontal disease. And there’s an infection under one of my front teeth. This all from the bicycle accident I had in 2008 where I broke my jaw and my teeth got all fucked up.
Dentist is “hopeful” my front tooth can be saved via root canal. But unsure and might need to pull it. She suggested I get braces to correct my bite and align my teeth as it’s going to be nearly impossible to keep them clean. So if the tooth is pulled I’d have metal mouth missing a tooth for months before I can get an implant.
Why can’t something go right for a change.

Is it worth getting a second opinion?

For the tooth yes it would make sense to get another opinion. But the disease is either you have it or not. I can potentially keep it from getting worse but it does irreversible damage and I’ll have to live with it forever.wap wrote: ↑Wed Jun 25, 2025 1:45 pmDamn. Sorry dude, that blows. Honestly this sounds a bit sus. I have had dentists in the past that would find "cavities" every visit... Deep cleaning is another thing they keep pushing...Johnny_P wrote: ↑Wed Jun 25, 2025 1:40 pm So in the latest episode of how life keeps throwing punches at me. Saw the dentist yesterday. Nah man they gauged the depth of my gums and it’s kinda bad. Lots of “7’s” indicating bone loss under my gums.max225 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 25, 2025 2:23 pmHonestly this sounds a bit sus. Great thing is this is incurable and I’ll need intense cleaning every 3 months for life.

I’m taking solace in the fact that one of my friends is a very well renowned dental implant specialist. Likely the best in the Philly area. So maybe he can make some time to explain the situation and options to me a bit more clearly.
