Actually installed the car seat in the 86 this weekend, I’m good to go with that thing for now. Will post pics of living life with such an ‘impractical’ car.

Not going to lie... it's tight and putting in the base was a PITA. I don't think I would do it if I didn't have the base in there fairly permanently and I can load her in the seat inside and just clip in/out. The passenger seat also can't go all the way back now even with just the base in there... so it's not without it's compromises. The wife hasn't ridden in my car since , I had a passenger one time, so it's whatever. I can take the baby and dog to a hike or something which is cool.

Yeah the base for the car seat makes loading in the mini far for practical. The car seat itself barely slides past the front seat when it’s leaned all the way forward
