I’m loving the gravel bike though. Since I’m on paternity funemployment, we road tripped over the wife’s work spring break down to Charleston and Amelia Island. Had some fun gravel sessions.

Amelia Island is sick for cycling, tons of really nice bike paths completely separate from the road. Some pretty chill single track stuff perfect for the gravel bike as well.

I haven’t ridden a mountain bike since becoming a dad. I miss it… but the whole load the car, drive somewhere, get everything set up, ride, clean up, load car, drive home, etc. Even a fairly basic 10-15 mile session is like a three plus hour ordeal, so if I can pull that off, I usually go for just riding out from the house.

I look forward to getting back out bb eventually though.

Glad to see you’re building back up. I also forgot about the :dicks: thing :lolol:

Johnny, you next? I don’t need anymore bikes with four in my personal arsenal already.
Yeah! I'm pumped.

If I'm honest, most of the time I'll just be bopping around the neighborhood on it, but I do hope I can get it out on some local trails every now and again. There's another dad at my girls' school who's into MTB and making a new bike friend was part of the appeal. He and I were chatting about it at his daughter's bday party a few weeks ago, and with Trek closing these out now it seemed like a good excuse to jump on it.

A hard tail makes for a great neighborhood/family cruiser as well for sure, it's a great jack of all trades. I love road cycling and love my road bike, but it is kind of annoying to ride in any situation other than going fast.

One recommendation - consider a Brooks saddle or something else that is comfy enough without having to rock bike shorts. I love cruising on my Raleigh because the seat is dece up to like 15-20 miles in any sort of pants, even jeans are fine.

Ah yeah probably getting a road bike this year. I started looking and had to put it on pause as I sprained my ankle a week and a half ago.

Picked it up today!

While they were putting it together I had the shop install the bar and stem combo from We Are One, they called it "Da Package", and it's now discontinued. It has the same stem length and rise as what came on the Roscoe 9, which I liked better than the 20mm rise bars on the 7 & 8 when I hopped on them back to back. The Pro's Closet had them discounted when they were going out of business and I picked up one of the last ones, so it's been sitting in my garage for months.

Good thing I picked up the Roscoe when I did too. The Roscoe 9 is gone completely and the 8 is sold out now in most sizes too, including mine (M/L). That M/L size is pretty amazing for me at 5'10". So many in medium feel too small and in large feel too big. Still pretty basic but man it's nice having a real MTB again.

Hell yeah!

It's gorgeous out today, I'd totally be bailing on work this afternoon to hit the trails if we weren't heading out of town this afternoon. Drats!

I'm slowly ramping up the intensity again - this was a 3x8min workout at sweet spot, which is right on the edge of Zone 3 & Zone 4. I have my FTP set at 215W right now and these intervals were at 200W or so. I thought they went pretty well. My heart rate responded just as expected and was right in the BPM range you'd expect for a sweet spot interval. My breathing wasn't 100% right but once warmed up I felt okay, though some of my breaths still felt shallower than usual.

I went to the chiropractor today and got a massage and an adjustment, they also gave me a couple exercises to try to loosen up the intercostals (muscles between the ribs). They aren't anything totally different than what I've been doing, but they are slightly different and the one in particular I think is working better. The massage definitely helped, I think. Hopefully that'll provide some lasting relief as well, but at least things are moving in the right direction.

Adjustments are pretty helpful for me every once in a while.

Glad things are improving slowly but surely!

Has the Trek arrived yet?

Pretty weak week of cycling for me with all this work travel.

Yeah! I've only ridden it around the block a few times but it's a sweet little rig. The modern geo will take some getting used to, but it should be much more capable of handling the chunk on our trails around here when I do get it out.

Any thoughts about the REI brand called co-op, especially for bikes.

I may have found a nice upgrade over my basic trek which has been neglected for a while. It was also $600 which how much my trek was when i bought it in 2016. It was nice riding in rock creek trail near my apartment. This feels a whole lot better, even if it is not quite up there with trek's or specialized and the like. It still feels better in many ways than my trek in particular, which might as well be the corolla cross equivalent.

They’re pretty decent entry level bikes I think. I wouldn’t do any super aggressive trails on it but for the greenways and such, it’ll be a nice ride.

Im not doing jumps enough to get up on air, I plan on using this on rock creek and other trails too, get :tits: a bike as well. Very usable for me too.
