Tomorrow and the following days will be.. interesting.
I’m sure some of you have seen stuff about the email that went out asking for all Feds to give bullets on what they accomplished last week. Some people are upset about it, I dgaf, that’s something expected by many employers/managers elsewhere. Send the list, who cares. Accountability isn’t a bad thing. Email has a response due by 11:59pm EST Monday night. Elon’s threat on twitter that anyone who doesn’t respond is effectively resigning wasn’t stated in the email, so I’m not sure if it carries any weight.
However, Monday is the day that most Feds are to report to their new offices. Most of us don’t have assigned desks or seats because we’re just being crammed wherever they have buildings. Most of us also, myself included, have been told that we will likely not have access to that building’s internet on Monday. I believe that the timing of the demand for our bulleted lists and Monday’s RTO with many of us not having internet access is 100% intentional… no internet access at work, and not allowed to send the email from home with no telework or remote work authorized. Whether or not people will actually be fired for not responding remains to be seen, but they’re definitely continuing to try to fuck with us.
Fuck these two cunts. I’ll piss on their graves one day.

Funny enough we started doing the what are the 5 things you are working on at the start of the week about a month ago. I probably went through about 7 lay offs … interesting to see the gov run like a “tech” firm
What a heaping pile of shit Elon and Donny are.SAWCE wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2025 1:13 pm Tomorrow and the following days will be.. interesting.

Should the government be efficient? Yes, duh. There is work that could be done.
Should some people probably get the boot? Sure, like any 'yuuuuugggeee' organization, there is dead weight.
All of this bullshit simply incentivises the GOOD people to want to leave.
Offer big severance, who will leave? The people who know they can find another job.
Fuck with everyone's emotions, who will leave? The people who have the confidence to know they don't deserve that.
Buddy of mine worked at SpaceX for a few years and said it was the worst experience of his career, basically similar tactics constantly.
Managers should account that their people are doing their jobs. If that means weekly emails, 30 minute 1:1, review of work product... these things are probably already happening within most of the orgs.

What a load of shit. Keep us posted dude, and I’m sorry you’re going through this. I’ve been through a few mass layoffs and it’s not fun for anyone. Frequently the people laid off end up happier than those that stay through it because the culture takes an enormous shit.SAWCE wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2025 1:13 pm Tomorrow and the following days will be.. interesting.

Sucks about the mass cuts. I don't agree with the process, and I know it must take a toll on the workers and families that are dealing with it.
On the flip side, from a macro level I don't believe that the country can spend the way it is without serious implications. It's always typical to see a strong fiscal tightening after a long bout of irresponsible spending. Party's over.
Canadians are 100% going to be dealing with fiscal prudence. Hacking and slashing to commence soon

I feel sorry for a person, but not the process overall. The cuts need to happen.Tar wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2025 8:33 am Sucks about the mass cuts. I don't agree with the process, and I know it must take a toll on the workers and families that are dealing with it.

You have to stop borrowing 30 cents on the dollar and get back to spending = taxation before you can start making more cuts to pay down the deficit.
