Which market ?
Been waiting for a market crash in housing for 12 years and it runaway dieseled its way even further.

Live and learn … instead of buying the best house I could afford I bought something 50% cheaper because I was a chicken shit. Now 5 years in it … it was a mistake I can not undo with everything else getting to unpbtanium. I could have enjoyed a much nicer house and wouldn’t need to upgrade now.

I’m not waiting for a crash anymore.

Car market crash ? I doubt a random sporty civic will be prone to epic depreciation. It is one of the least depreciating vehicles on the market period. My Tacoma, this civic, and a manual low spec 911 are it.
Car crash, yes. And I do believe it’s coming. But don’t trust me! I’m not an economist. Just a dumb redneck from NC! Housing market in Charlotte probably isn’t crashing anytime soon. However, there are plenty of metros that are seeing RE prices drop across the country. Probably not in your utopian commie state.

However, I would never say never when it comes to car depreciation. I’m sure that civic is great, but Brad brings up good points. You’re in a price point that opens up a lot of options for consumers. It’s also a very specialized vehicle. Which limits its pool of buyers. Your everyday house wife who might drive a civic doesn’t give fuck all about that car. So you’re limited to true enthusiasts like yourself who view that as a third car. I personally am not a fan of the childish like looks, so even enthusiasts markets have limitations based on styling, etc. so math tells me when you limit the pool of buyers for a product, it’s more susceptible to market fluctuations. I know, you probably didn’t think my dumb as could spell some of those words. /s :lolol:

Even if I’m wrong and prices don’t come down, it gives you time to evaluate. Make the right choice. So what if it takes 4 months to get an M2, if that’s what you want…. :whocares:

An M2 for $10k more?!? Kinda hard to not make that move, but I’m also bmw fanboying right now. Maybe I’ll buy one of those M quarter zips….

An m2 is currently 20k more to “start” used for used that gap will likely continue to carry. I just like to keep the debate objective because you can’t really mix and match farted vehicles vs ones where you peel the stickers off.

For me at least an m2/3 falls in the same category as a civic. A Porsche is truly what I want and the civic/m2/3 are essentially gateway vehicles to figure out if I even still want that type of vehicle in my life. I can’t get that sorted through a test drive

Is one available on Turo that you could rent for a weekend and use like a cheap hooker?

Nah. I need to “live” with it for 3-6 months.

It could for whatever reason end up in the garage and not being driven. At which point the Porsche is off the table and I’m just going to stick to SUV’s like the cuck that I am

Man, I feel for ya man. I can’t really relate. But you seem to have a lot of trouble with decisions.

In the meantime, I would drive down and rent this guys car and drive it like you stole it all weekend:

The GTI has the upper hand for daily purposes but once you try to go past like 70% of the cars capability the Type R will just get better and the GTI will just get worse.

Civic also has golf R power.

I am not going to lie I like both. But the special factor in the GTI is small… and I’m really tempted to get it in dsg form at which point it’s pretty much a Prius so round and round we go

and yet you wont even consider a used on at this price point that would let you try out dat lyfe at almost zero cost basis risk because of farts.

pre-farted in cars= totaled.

You should know I fart in every car I sit in, especially ones sitting un a showroom floor, like a civic type r. That way I become a part if it, forever. Its the ultimate man/machine merge, connected forever by butts. :science:

We went through it but you refuse to think in anything but absolutes.

I’d like a manual 911 T with less than 20k miles which imo is a lot for a sporty 3rd car and I’d like It to be less than 5 years old. This vehicle is 90% of a new one so why wouldn’t I just aspire to get it new ? I want a Porsche to be a Porsche not a Poorsche

I’m sorry but a 911 auto vert with 70k miles and a questionable history is not the same thing. Or a 20 year old 911 in general is not the same thing. Cars WEAR out and in particular sporty toy cars.

Sorry not sorry. The Bentayga is ugly AF. When you walk into a Bentley dealer and you are looking at a Flying Spur and a Continental GT but your Bentayga because you want to haul your Bernese Mountaing dog around Nantucket..........you should do us all a favor and kill yourself. Same with the Lambo Uranus. Just get a Yukon Denali XL. AND the Continental GT.

If you have new Bentley money and don't have 7 kids I'm not sure why you'd buy a Yukon instead.

Man a G550 was supposed to replace the Bentley but it's hard to drop 6 figures on one with 50k on it.

My personal list of SUV's I like is short.

Macan S/GTS - Speed
Yukon/Tahoe - Great workhorses and can be luxury
G-Wagon - Best fashion accessory
Defender - Off-road Fashion accessory
New Passport - I like the looks, and it's pratical
