Theres an area in DC thats pretty much like Memphis, Southeast dc, not a single super market you will find, shootings is a regular thing and if you happen to drive by and being white as i am, they will look at you funny.

Whenever we get news about shooting, 8/10 its that area. Murder 1 in the district vs murder 1 in the country

In all honesty, fleeing destinations wise, I think Brad is doing it right, Eastern TN is pretty epic.
If silicon valley is too crowded and expensive, what's the next new up and coming tech hub that is quickly reaching parity in terms of cost? Austin is the obvious answer. I'm not trashing a place, it's just far from being dramatically different than SV in terms of cost of living and problems.

Austin has a great culture, but high COL and water shortages. Not to mention power grid issues via ERCOT.
I think the ship has sailed in regards to making Austin a home for myself. I'd look elsewhere.

High COL, water shortages, and grid issues? Sounds awfully similar to another place, but I can't quite put my finger on it.

My friend from Turkey works in an industry as such lives in Palo Alto (those who don't know, sf burbs) and they're working on a project to make water out of :poop:

I mean, you don't disagree, right? Austin has a lot of the same issues you're trying to get away from in California...

Not really no. Austin to Bay Area is like comparing foreign countries to me.

I think you’re mostly quoting headlines from 2-5 years ago.

I heard the MSM term of Austin being the SF of Texas and that’s just plain :wrong:

That’s not SF burbs. It’s like almost an hr drive from the city. And it’s one the most expensive zip codes in the world. I went to school there actually … fuck that hell hole. Average house is 3.5-4 million for 2k sq feet. For literally nothing.

I hate what we call the “peninsula” here with a passion.

Fun fact I met our man from the desert in Palo Alto last week. :dock:

If you’d actually like to hear why I think Austin is so different I’ll spend a couple of min typing up a lengthy thread

In Turkey, whenever there is a wildfire and it is near the water, planes have a huge bucket beneath it, grabs the water, and dumps it. Why didn't cali did the same

I haven't seen videos of it for them, so im not sure if they did do it plus hearing complaints about how they drained the tank before this issue was on the horizon.

Edit: saw the vid, it was so out of my initial radar

Yes. But they have plenty of resources if they managed them well, and we have the technology to use seawater for fire fighting; they just refuse to spend the money.
