The actual tonnage 1/2, 3/4, 1 designation doesn't really relate to what they can carry anymore. It's more of a general descriptor as most full size trucks can carry over 2,000lbs of payload in the bed.

Yep, it started as payload capacity but stuck as a model designation. It still matters in terms federal truck vehicle class and GVWR (total vehicle weight when fully loaded). 1500's are "light duty" and below 10k lbs. 2500 is usually 6k+ lbs and 3500 is usually 10k+ (HD).

1500 (LD) and 25/3500 (HD) trucks are indeed different both from how they're designed and engineered and how the .gov views them. Higher GVWR trucks get different standards from the .gov for fuel efficiency and emissions, and it's how Stellanus continues to build Hemi trucks only on "HDs" (the last Hemis now). LD and HD trucks are viewed as different models by the OEMs with different customers and use cases. However, there's incentive to push people into HD dick swinger trucks because the margins are insane and the .gov requirements are looser.

Yeah, the government regulations are why the F100 became the F150.

Just so we're clear, it's BELOW GMC but, above Chevrolet.
Sorry Chris, it's just the order of things.

Hey, we can all laugh at the RAM boys.

At the top? Glad you asked.

Yea I think it's Kei Truck Cucks wearing their flat brim hats going to their artisianal drip coffee appointment at 53mph in the slow lane as it's the top Speed.

Right behind them are bee keepers from the midwest who want to save the planet with their hybrid MAVERICK BRO.

And slotted right under that is the FAKE JAPANESE cuck truck of beauty the taco... can't tow shit, gets V8 fuel economy and I4 power from the V6.

Lol, here people are buying Kei trucks instead of SxS's.
Usually you see them covered in mud hauling more cargo in the bed than 99% of pickups have ever seen in their lifetime.
They're used as workhorses.

They should still make quarter ton Subs. The GMT800s with the 8.1 are :muah:
I've never really known/understood what the tonnage designations in :truk: mean, care to explain quarter ton, half ton, etc.?

Agreed that that thing is hot.
In GMT400 guise, the most obvious differences and more/stiffer leaves in the back=worse ride/better towing capacity and 10 bolt wheel studs vs. 6. Chris could articulate many, many more when he chimes in but basically it's a 2500 Suburban vs. 1500. More robust driveline, rear axle. Typically served up with a big block, e.g. 454 vs. 350.

We went out to a department lunch to welcome a new hire and, one of the guys (in a GMC 2500) made a comment to the effect of:
"I could pull your tiny dick truck across this parking lot."
(At the time I had the M3 & the E30)
Me;
'Cool, how many BMW's do you have again?"

Lame retort, I'm not always good off-the-cuff, but it was as lame as the instigating statement.

:notbad: Guy sounds like a cunt. A few half toners cut me off on my bike ride home from the office today. Your peen is still small bruhs.

I covet a kei truck but definitely fall more into the flat brim category than utility.
