Yea, that's my take too. These things are way too expensive, and seeing them around they look...cheap and incomplete for some reason. I'm really curious how vehicles are going evolve. It's very possible that things are going to go downhill for a bit from here on out.if most agree with y'all or what, because I think I've only ever seen one new Tacoma.
as they are a very common vehicle here, like everywhere else.

Dude down the street from us got one, that's the only one I've seen not at the dealer.

Yea, I don't get the hype of Toyota 4x4s in general. The 4R was fine and solid but it was cheap inside and the engine left A LOT to be desired for performance and the transmission was a joke. Then Land Cruisers might be the most overhyped off-roader family of all time. 0/7 do I get it.max225 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2024 5:42 pmThat used to be the Toyota way. Same engine from 2004>2024 still around in the 4runner.
You gain reliability, but you lose everything else. They tend to be boring, coarse, slow, and inefficient powertrains. But pretty darn reliable. New Toyotas are super complex and made to a shit ass budget
The circle jerk is real with these things, and entirely unwarranted IMO. If I were shopping a new

Honestly my Italian engine time bomb Stelanus 4x4 vehicle seems to be far more bulletproof.ChrisoftheNorth wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2024 6:01 pmYea, I don't get the hype of Toyota 4x4s in general. Should’ve had a DFD gang bang one after another. Then no one would know who fathered and we could all just not pay child support but secretly high five over every Peloton work out.ChrisoftheNorth wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2024 6:01 pmI know it doesn't work this way, but I would have volunteered as tribute toOG Jess.

One thing that’s kinda random. You guys know that my dad has a 2017 300(s) with the pentastar of death…D Griff wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2024 6:14 pmHonestly my Italian engine time bomb Stelanus 4x4 vehicle seems to be far more bulletproof.ChrisoftheNorth wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2024 6:01 pm

Well I helped him buy it new… and he keeps it in great shape… but now the door panel delaminated… as did the center U connect screen… both are apparently common problems… he keeps it dealer maintained … so now he got it fixed … but they didn’t tuck the door wiring harness and it was sticking out and he had them fix that … since the other issue has been the rear camera stops working when it’s hot out … no fix as they can’t reproduce and that 180i resolution camera is $1300 to replace … it does seem that with miles the good ol “Chrysler” quality shines through.
Mind you my loathed tsx with 2x the miles and @14 years old vs the 7. Has no issues … the in laws Lexus es 330 from 2006 also has no issues .. other than a blown rear sub from age…
I can’t imagine my dads car to be that decent in 2033

Probably, but worth it. I can hold my own and slap back when warranted. Would probably be an epic romp.max225 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2024 6:29 pmChrisoftheNorth wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2024 6:01 pm

The drivetrain will probably last forever, the rest is standard Stellanus garbage.max225 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2024 6:34 pmOne thing that’s kinda random. You guys know that my dad has a 2017 300(s) with the pentastar of death…

That's why Wranglers are strong, not much fluffy stuff to go wrong. I wouldn't touch a refresh model with the fancy interior shit with a 20' pole.
Funny, I remember you buying that with him. We’ve all been circle jerking on the internet for a long time. Cool/odd to think about.max225 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2024 6:34 pmOne thing that’s kinda random. You guys know that my dad has a 2017 300(s) with the pentastar of death…

My parents have a Pentashit equipped 2015 Durango. It’s actually been a pretty good car. I drove it four hours from Myrtle Beach to their home recently and it works well and other than damage associated with an old lady hauling a handicapped man, it’s pretty much solid.

I hear the pentadeathstar is good for 120-150k and then things fall apart … it has a lot of plastic in the upper intake manifold… and some sort of weird plastic oil filter/oil cooler housing that shits the bed etc.
So far his engine has been 5/7 … but you never know. I feel a sort of responsibility for him buying that car. But again … I wanted him to buy a 2016 last “small” gen accord sport…. He insisted on the boat. Kinda random I remember the accord pricing it was 22.8 new, 26k msrp … and his car was 26.ish new but msrp was 37k

Markup to discount down. It works oddly well with some people, especially of the geriatric variety.

I’d wager under 30k was a good deal for a rwd car with leather BEATZ by dr Dre, moonroof, CarPlay (fancy for the time) etc, keyless. The accord didn’t even have push button start … and 4 speakers …ChrisoftheNorth wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2024 9:35 pm Markup to discount down. Another wild thing is they were making the exact same thing through last year at least.
