It say in the low 20s for most of the auction, curious where it goes/if the engine woes have any impact. Selling a car at auction must be really stressful since they do nothing for the first 80+% of the time.
100%. My friend's dad sold his GT350 that was made out to be an R clone and got taken on B&T. They recommended a $40k reserve, and it barely cleared at $44k. At the time I'd figured it would go for more like $55k.

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2016- ... -gt350-24/

With as many auctions as there are live at any given time now, it seems some do still slip through the cracks and go below market. I'd hate for it to be mine.
What makes it an "R Clone"? Is it the spoiler ?

The spoiler, the wheels are replicas of the carbon wheels specific to the R, the seats were swapped out for a pair of Recaros that were actually from an R, the rear seat delete, resonator delete like the R has, and some badging.

Well, that 10AE 86 sold for $35K, looks like the madness is over on that car what with the engine stuff. Interesting 'flip' for this person as out the door cost on this nasty bitch would be $37K+. A cool $20+ for mile to drive a Subaru.

Yeah, that was less than I figured it would go for. I'm sitting on a $33k Carvana offer that expires on 8/1. Decisions.

I am starting to see a lot of softness in the .com offers... they are about 20-25% lower than their "retail" prices for the vehicles nowadays. I Think the gravy train is certainly done.

:dat:

If I'm gonna do it, I've got to do it now. I have 2 accounts with separate e-mail addresses and the offer on the other is about $3,500 lower. No idea why this one is so much higher other than their algorithm just being dumb.

I saw a lot of that when working on :plac: the BMW… they’re just dumb.

3,2xx.

The thing is perfect, man. PPFed since new, ceramic coated right away. Literally the only flaw on the entire car is some VERY light swirls on that gloss black trim above the tails. Total waste of effort for Carvana, but they'd still probably give me more than anyone else.

My wife and I had our 13th wedding anniversary on Monday and my mom was staying over for babysitting duties on that Monday and Tuesday. After we got the kids to bed my wife suggested we go for a drive and my response was "Nah, I'd rather just go for a walk with you." Beautiful evening, just me and the wife, but I was more interested in walking and chatting than going for a drive and stopping out somewhere. I GUARANTEE you that if we had a convertible I'd have gone along with the idea.

It's weird. It's REALLY fun. But it doesn't feel all that special. It's hard to explain, but most days I don't have any sort of craving to go out and drive the thing. Usually when I go run an errand I take the van anyway just out of habit. My car guy gene is broken or something. :iono:

I get the appeal of the open roof man. That's why I didn't get a Z06. It's just different. I fucking loved the Boxster I rented from Turo and it was a non S pdk. The hairdresser one, but it was still an occasion.

Totally! Z06s are great, but I've always thought if I was ever going to own a Corvette, it'd 100% have to be a targa. But yeah, the convertible hits different. The 86 is neither special enough to be an occasion, nor practical enough to be a daily.

Maybe with some "fizz" mods - namely an exhaust - it'd feel more special? I dunno.

I have long hair so I need to tie it up and wear a hat, but then I also get backwards hat tan lines. Doesn't bother me though until I attend a wedding and look like a dumbass with my racing stripe forehead

Wife unit loves it. Basically the only potential GR86 replacement I can get her excited about is a PDK Boxster.

I hear you.

Convertible is different. Less useable, but more fun. I also take the Bolt 95% of the time.

I wish the ND had a pinch more room. The NC fit me better. Maybe Toyota will actually come through with a next gen MR2 spyder? A mid engine, tiny, light, cheap convertible would be great. Usually more passenger room, but less utility. I'd be ok with that?

Nope. She hated the S2000 top down. She hated it even with the top up, but much more hate with the top down.

:ohdang: I’m up to 3600 miles.

Exhaust is nice. I do agree though, it’s not a super special car. That’s kind of the thing, fun, affordable, somewhat :aintcare:

It’s great for a DD for my case but with the kids I get your hesitation. It’s not necessarily special enough to be a special occasion or “date night” car.

I get the car guy gene dying somewhat too. I love mine and an glad that’s what I get to drive around but mostly in my free time I’d rather bike, go for a walk, do something outside, etc than go to a track or on a drive.

See, I don't want an :aintcare: weekend car. The only reason I have this instead of a Boxster GTS is because I can't afford the Porsche while paying to put 3 kids through daycare, but I still treat it like I would an $80,000 718 GTS.

I'm a dork and keep a log of fillups. It had 2,722 miles when I filled it up on Feb 21, and it has just under 3,300 today. Sooo yeah, not quite 600 miles in 5 months. :thisisfine:
