MSU/UM is a ridiculous experience...at Spartan Stadium or the Big House. This is a 5/7 idea.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 4:13 pmWe should have a DFD Meat Up at a MSU/UM game. That's one of the football games on my bucket list. I liked Dantonio's teams. He fucked some people up. Harbaugh is such a strange ranger I'm always in the MSU camp.

Budgets for this stuff are drying up fast. My tech teams in India are doing a big all hands meeting next week to wrap up the quarter and asked if the company would buy them dinner. I believe strongly in this sort of thing, but finance said no. Apparently these expenses are only allowable for client meetings now.D Griff wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 8:04 pmSorry to hear you didn’t get it man. They gave it to another engineer at the same level as myself. He’s fully qualified and should do well. Big boss said I interviewed awesome and was a strong pick - the consultant firm agreed. So don’t really know why I wasn’t picked but oh well I suppose. I think the other guy is just better known in the organization, been with the company longer.
I’ll lose out on some salary but my job will probably stay at a lower stress level so that’s good. I wasn’t too sure I wanted the job, but it still sucks to not get it. Especially since I’ve basically been doing the job for the last couple months.
We had a big sales meeting this week with my team, about 20 people from all over the country met at our office in Charlotte, did some training, team building, eating, etc. All in all was pretty dece. I feel like next year we won’t have budget for such things, so nice to do it now.
I'm changing job roles, and my boss, person I'm taking over for, and myself are meeting in Detroit next week for transition discussions...the same week as the auto show. I tried to expense 3 tickets to go, and got a "no". The belt tightening is getting real, next year I bet none of this will be going on. So much for team building.

Also, jobs with more responsibility seem to come at a high cost that I don't think salary often fairly compensates for. @JP, it was clearly meant to be in this case.

I’ve heard from many people that have left my department that it’s the worst department in the natural gas side of the business. So. I’ll keep an eye out for something else I suppose.D Griff wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 8:04 pmSorry to hear you didn’t get it man. I’m always down for a good company sponsored dinner though. We did that last week. I went to Penn State for some BS conference thing but a bunch of people from my company went. We racked up some pretty serious bar tabs with the VP. Was a good time.

Good. Because bosses tend to have a way of just assuming you will keep doing those things even if it was 'temporary'

Yeah I know that all too well. I was an interim manager for 8 months at the refinery before I got the pay bump. That sucked.golftdibrad1 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 19, 2022 7:39 amGood. Because bosses tend to have a way of just assuming you will keep doing those things even if it was 'temporary'

@Johnny, send a link over of the house, would love to see it!
I know some of us have given Max shit about the thought of selling his house and sitting things out in a rental, but have you given thought to this? It may make sense in your sitch if this new house doesn't work out.
How was the weekend for everyone?
Pretty dece here, went out to dinner and hung out with
Friday night. Saturday I knocked out some yard work and then we went to this winery about 40 minutes from here which was surprisingly 5/7 with mountain views. Then we went out for my buddy's birthday and pretty much all parties got
as fuck. We tried out this new to me bar that had $2 beers, a nice divey/country vibe, live music on an outdoor patio that was very fun. Yesterday I powered through the hangover and went mountain biking, chilled at the house and did some cleaning and stuff after and semi watched sportsball (
cares about it) on the patio.
I also helped her with some job applications, she is all-in on quitting the current sitch after kind of getting fucked over in a promotion deal.
Trying out a new routine to be more productive as I am normally shit on Monday mornings, so far it's been pretty good, knocked out a lot of work this AM and got a nice bike ride/lift in.

Pretty good here too. Took off friday to help parents do some moving, deal with failed sewer pump (again...ugh kinda shitty pun intended). Saturday I put the solid lifters in the red miata and got it fixed. Grilled up some steaks with the parentals at the house. Sunday we went to Dollywood with some friends and let the kids wear themselves out.
Between the MSM & the sewer pump....it was a VERY expensive week. But overall vv good and I enjoyed the shit outta it.

This seems very decent for the money. I did read that some places in the us are actually not super likely to depreciate too far. Pennsylvania was one of em. As it didn’t see too much appreciation compared to the rest of the country. At 525 you can’t really be that wrong …Johnny_P wrote: ↑Mon Sep 19, 2022 1:37 pmhttps://redf.in/fGrJHlD Griff wrote: ↑Mon Sep 19, 2022 1:04 pm

Michelle got Covid when we flew out to Florida, didn’t realize that’s what it was until we got home and she was feeling worse and tested positive Friday. I started feeling sick Saturday and woke up feeling like a bud hit me this morning. Sucks. She just lost her sense of smell last night. Plus side I probably won’t be going to SD Thursday with her anymore and just relax at home by myself.

IDK man compared to some of the shit you were looking at couple years ago and its proximity to philly seems nice and not even exorbitantly expensive.
