I’d be happy with jeans everyday at the office.
Jeans with a button down and nice shoes looks nice to me.
Bankers and their suits doe. :disgust:

Meanwhile I’m cargo shorts and t-shirt at home right now.

I agree, suit when you're in an office seeing only your coworkers is :butwhy: Sweat pants and a stained white tee is too far in the other direction :doe: I think jeans can look very nice and are suitable workplace attire.

Agreed.
So do you actually have to wear suits daily?

I don't think any of the big banks here require that.

If yes, in4pics.

Client facing roles, suit up! If I’m going out to a client I’ll wear one.
Otherwise it’s dress pants and button down long sleeve shirt. In operations we get to ditch the tie too.

I generally just do jeans and a polo here. Most of the people in the govt that I deal with now wear jeans and t-shirts almost every day, so I’m hoping that the team I’m going to is similar. I don’t mind throwing the polos on here and there, but t-shirt most days would be awesome.
I actually embrace the shorts at the office thing when it's warm but generally opt for a shirt with a collar. It's just funny at my company, so many people are in sweat pants and stuff, it looks like they are lounging more than working. :iono: I guess I'm just :okboomer: with my thoughts that people should dress up slightly Imageol:
I don't understand why shorts are considered more casual than jeans, unless they're specifically casual shorts. There are plenty of stylish shorts. Murican groupthink, maybe?

(Some jeans obviously also look waaaay more casual than others too)

Luckily I don't have to care anymore and can wear whatever I want. I'm thinking about trying some skirts for ventilation... :gay:

I dress up for formal visits from c-suite and other events like fundraising galas, etc. otherwise I am a mix between polo/collared shirt with slacks on my “nice days” or some outdoor/cargo pants/jeans with a t-shirt/long sleeve with a vest if it’s chillier. We also got company branded hoodies so I rock one of those NFG every now and then.

Took a stab at sushi this weekend with the wife. Bought short grain rice, some sushi vinegar, imitation crab meat sticks, tempura, sesame seeds, made my own spicy mayo, cream cheese, shrimp and some pre done raw smoked salmon, and a rolling mat. Not gonna lie, shit tasted EXACTLY like the shit we get at sushi restaurants. I was worried the rice wouldn't be right and fuck up the flavor and shit, but the rice was on point. Little difficult to work with and my knife blade kind of dragged along when I cut it so maybe it's a little too sticky, but it worked out pretty nice.
We're big fans of smoked salmon in rolls and nagiri. I bought some pre-smoked salmon for this attempt, but I dug into making my own that's sushi grade and I think I figured it out. So I got a smoke tube for my pellet grill and I'm going to attempt to cold smoke some salmon slabs next. Apparently that smoke tube is the magic missing piece of the puzzle for getting a deeper smoke taste with all the pellet grilling I've been doing.

I think my next attempt is going to be smoking my own salmon and mixing some fried shrimp with it. We got a new microwave that doubles as an air fryer so I'm gonna see how that baby works.

:dat: for sure. I won’t even wear sweatpants for a quick grocery run. I’d rather not even be in gym shorts and try to avoid that unless I *need* to grab something on my way home from the gym. Doesn’t take much effort to pull on any other pair of shorts or some jeans. Stained shirts/clothes are an absolute no-go for me, dawg. Have some pride in yourself and your appearance. I genuinely think this is reflected in how you carry yourself, treat others, and wind up being treated yourself.

Interesting.
To clarify, that’s for being out and about in public outside of the gym. In the gym and lounging at home in definitely in gym shorts. Other places I think it just looks lazy. Personal preference/opinion.

Agreed. Home improvement/auto parts stores mid project are really the only time I wear shit clothes like basketball shorts, stained shirts, etc. in public.

Yeah, you and I have :dock: on this rant before, but why do men have to be :sweaty: to look nice? The main reason I would wear (nice khaki or similar) shorts to the office was that I like to go on walks at lunch and it is hot as fuck here. It's really a non issue now, but back then we were required to be there nine hours/day, so I'm taking my lunch break. If I'm sitting in the office all damn day, the last thing I want to do is sit at my desk and watch youtube or something, it's nice to get outside, but jeans = sweaty as hell when I return to work.

I’d absolutely wear some khaki/chino shorts to work if I could. Especially in summer.

Agreed on some jeans/pants looking more casual than others and even some shorts.. the ones with all the intentional rips and whatnot.. never understood that style :wap:

Sweatpants are a hard no but I basically live in (decent-fitting, not yuge baggy basketball style) gym shorts and plain athletic t-shirts right now. There's not much else suitable for 90 degrees and 100% humidity while getting around via biking/walking as a dude.

Yeah.. if it was as humid here as it is there my time would likely change. But the canvas-whatever material shorts I have from Costco are still pretty lightweight and breathable. I don’t mind pulling them on instead of gym shorts.
