Interesting. I'll check the build date on it tomorrow.Tarspin wrote: ↑Thu Dec 10, 2020 6:53 amThere are two different Ontario plants building the RAV all with different launch dates, and I think that they just started to build even more in the Kentucky plant. Buying anything post 02/2020 build date is low risk for major issues, like a leaky engine block requiring 20 something hours of tech time to swap out. I think that is the only concern, the issue you speak of is NBD aside from a quick visit to
I'd still wait to buy from the Kentucky plant for a year or two to let them shake out their manufacturing issues

Currently at around 6k miles with no real issues. Ended up getting 18" Pretorias for winter to replace my enkei's so naturally it snowed today. Got a decent from the on them so it made it easier. Also put the raceseng shift boot collar on.
New clutch bleeder block went in about a month ago and made an immediate improvement. This is still probably one of the best mods you can do on a GTI/GoRf.
Also when I took it in for an oil change I noticed VW changed the oil spec from 5w-40 to 0w-30. why.
Spoke too soon about how the Rav4 has been fine. The power tailgate stopped working the other day and I tried resetting the height adjustment but it hasn't worked. Tailgate will go up about a quarter of the way and just stop.
I like it. Nice update on the R.
Weird to hear of the issue on the Rage 4
Agree they look great.
For some reason I can't picture where you're talking about. The MK7.5R has five+ years of plant production prowess behind it using existing equipment and built in the motherland. There's little chance that it will have build quality issues, and a car to own and operate. I think even my 7R is a pretty reliable beast and deserves recognition for it's reliability to date.
I dis start to notice some driver door chaffing right where it hinges inwards, and I think it is rubbing against the silly rubber insert. I wonder if MK7.5 addresses that problem?

I was never a fan of wheels, but I like my 18" black Prets, too. A lot.

So weirdly this started happening (see pics of someone else's MK7). I pushed the rubber liner in a bit deeper, but I may have the dealer repaint the door (reluctantly). I dunno, maybe I'll just hit it with some touch up paint.Gberg2119 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 10, 2020 9:27 pmFor some reason I can't picture where you're talking about. I think I remember that now. I'd go touch up paint first but couldn’t the diller adjust the hinges?

The rubber liner in the quarter panel becomes unseated and the leading edge of the door rubs itself out worse then a 80's teenager with a stash of vintage Penthouse mags. I'm sure that it is an easy fix, wish that I caught it earlier.

So much for the 'yota being an easy fix. They couldn't diagnose it in the service department and had to send it to the body shop where they think it's the hinges. SA asked her if she's hit anything which she hasn't.
Doesn't make sense at all to me but I'm sensing bs.

Here's a good one. SA said "In my 21 years of service I've learned to give vague answers so no one holds me to anything."

Rav’s have had issues with lift gate motors for years after they redesigned them in 2014ish and put the motors in the struts. I’ve replaced a couple sets already.
Highlander used to have weak hinges that would deform slightly and torque the door. That was fixed in MY18. Not aware of any door issues.
Send me your vin via text and I’ll run the vin for you before I bail from Toyota.

What does the clutch bleeder block improve?
Did they spec 0w-30 for the R? My GTI is 0w-20.
Will do! I assumed they would just be replacing the struts. Having to send it to the body shop doesn’t seem right though.fledonfoot wrote: ↑Mon Dec 21, 2020 10:18 pm Rav’s have had issues with lift gate motors for years after they redesigned them in 2014ish and put the motors in the struts. The bleeder block will give you a bit better clutch feel but most of all it will make it more consistent. It's tough to describe but in both R's I've had the clutch would feel like its grabbing at different points. Once the bleeder block goes in its smooth engagement every time.Huckleberry wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 8:50 amWhat does the clutch bleeder block improve?

Yeah, they put 0w-30 in. I think it's been 5w-40 since the Mk5 days and even midway through the Mk7. The change 0w-30/20 was made for 2018 and later if I'm remembering right.

Wow 3 different oil weights for the same engine. Proving that it doesn’t really matter which one you useHuckleberry wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 8:50 amWhat does the clutch bleeder block improve?

Agreed. They say that it was switched up to lower internal resistance for FE figures.max225 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 10:36 amWow 3 different oil weights for the same engine. Proving that it doesn’t really matter which one you useHuckleberry wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 8:50 am

It is. You can take it a step further by replacing the line with a stainless steel line as well but I just went with the block both times and it was good enough for me.Huckleberry wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 11:08 amIs it the block from ECS Tuning?Gberg2119 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 10:24 am
