FWIW my wife has a master's degree and the responsibilities of a director with entry level pay. I think we will eentually combine our finances fully but currently I pay for pretty much all of our bills.troyguitar wrote: ↑Wed Apr 08, 2020 4:56 pm I'd take $100k for sitting at a phone/computer at home for no more than 40 hours too. I already do that for less.
I'd especially take it in Charlotte with the wife also having a real job in Charlotte.
That beats the fuck out of only one of us having a real job in Corning.
We can't find 2 real job offers in one good city, hell we can't find one.

Yeah man, my wife and I told our parents to put Easter on ice indefinitely. It's a first for us not celebrating with both sets and a reminder that this isn't just some short term vacation. Occasionally a slight touch of panic enters my mind before its quickly replaced with optimism, but I hope we aren't gridlocked like this for too long.

It’s so awesome to see munchkin growing every day. Pretty much the most fulfilling part of being a parent.
Big props to wifey for literally nurturing her to be the most attentive and happy baby around.

I was supposed to get dunked on Easter so that I can get married in a church and not light on fire. I guess the devil found another way to prevent thatTarspin wrote: ↑Wed Apr 08, 2020 7:34 pmYeah man, my wife and I told our parents to put Easter on ice indefinitely. I feel the same with the baby cousin, every time I see her, she's different in a good way. Last summer she just babbles, now she says like 20-30 words. She keeps pressing skip for commercials when she watches something on Youtube. One thing, my uncle sometimes slips out with cussing, in Turkish we say fuck off a lot whether if its serious or just fucking around so he sometimes says it around her kid, and his daughter told him to fuck off

You can talk to your neighbors, brah. Maintain some space, wash your hands, cover dat pie hole.
I walk doggie 2x a day. Shit keeps me sane. Did chat a bunch with some of my neighbors today. Everyone feels weird right now.
I also did a 30 mile bike ride today

We signed the docs with 2 witnesses and gave them to the city with our $90 check and that was that. Done. Married. HAH. Ceremony was just a formality.

Sorry its not working out too well brah. IIRC this move was an intermediate step to hopefully open more doors? Hope that works out eventually for you. I'd be trying to leave I think. I dunno. I like the outdoors and winter. I lived in upstate NY once, it was alright, but I was a kiddo.troyguitar wrote: ↑Wed Apr 08, 2020 4:48 pmWe hate this place. We were already way happier with more or less the same life we have now but in bumfuck KY with some access to a small city. Charlotte is yet another step up from there and is where we actually wanted to go. It seemed like a realistically attainable dream. Spent a couple of years trying to network and applying to stuff. Got some interviews, got no offers.[user not found] wrote:
Real question - why do you think you'd feel differently?
I'm guessing we'd be happier almost anywhere that's not here. It's the worst of all worlds. Cold, gray, remote, expensive, no fucking AC despite the humid summers, and still full of rednecks but instead of being nice like in the South they are assholes like in NYC.
We have been happier everywhere else we have lived thus far in our lives. Williamsport, PA was awesome in comparison and that place sucks.
What does your wife do? What's her title?
