Engine options drive truck pricing and resale. Big dick or GTFO.

If you made a Hemi Gladiator, no reasonable person would buy a JLU they would just put a topper on the truk.

Chris, the failure to make a 360 hp Jeep lies at your feet like the dead body of Christ. Solve the pressing problem of our time bro.

Believe it or not, many people just don't like the look of the Gladiator.

They would be better off making a Hemi JLU for sales numbers.

The JLU can get away with the boxy look because nostalgia, the Gladiator? it doesn't have that and is seen by many as an abortion that survived.

I'm "meh" on it myself after seeing them in person. I think the proportions are off, or the squared off cabin from a rear 3/4 view is just wrong to my brain..

Gladiators are certainly polarizing. I love it because it's a form follows function thing. The squared off cab makes for :mindblown: rear seat room, the long wheelbase makes it excellent as a truck...better than any other midsizer. But overall, it can look weird. They look best as Rubicons with 35 or 37" tires.

Once you put 35” tires on it and a bedrack to make it less useless, it looks really epic

Big words from the desert, but then you realize buy here pay here doesn’t really work on a 70k jlu because you’re starting to get close to a G Wagen.

Nein.

Um ? They are bigger ? They are heavier ? They literally have 500lbs more shit in them?

They look the best with some cap or rack on the back for sure...I just don't think that adds any usability.

:wrong:

I want 35's on my truck badly. It's all it really needs. I'm just too :scrooge: to spend $2k on a set of wheels and tires.

I think the Gladiator looks :neat: in Rubicunt trim.... base is hideous.

I find that many vehicles are like this to me, my Kamry looks good but a white 328i with no M-Sport looks like a turd, for example. Or widebody versus regular C6 'vettes.

One quick thing to note about Jeeps or FCA in general. I think their pricing structure is :fullretard: and requires quite a bit of negotiation from the customer. Wronglers/JT are priced 10k too high IMO. A rubicunt shouldn't top out at 60k... that's a lot of money for the target customer. I would think if they lowered their MSRPs and cut out the shit :dillerman: dealings, they would raise quite a bit of sales.

"Needed" in the dick extending, muscle flexing, Tim the Toolman Taylor grunting way, absolutely.

But really needed to build a competitive product? Nah...the ZF 8-speed makes any turd of an engine shine. Fortunately, the current Pentastar (which was heavily revised for the JL launch) is pretty solid, and works great with the transmission.

I've put 3.6k miles on mine in almost 2 months...towed plenty including at capacity, merged and passed on they highway plenty, and I've yet had a desire for more power. Won't win drag races, but :whocares:

Is there another way? For a Toyota Corolla, of course. But the Jeep is INHERENTLY a Tim the Toolman Taylor kind of vehicle, and it thus needs a powerplant worthy of its testosterone level.

Man between this "Pentastar is supremely adequate" commentary and Max's absolute assertion that an Audi Q5 needs no more power than a baby dick Volkswagen engine can provide, you guys are taking this forum to a dark place. What's next? A thread on crafting cat toys?

I am willing to back up my words :bruh: Q5 is a :tits: mobile it doesn't NEED more power. Period.

You have to sort of place yourself in the FCA shoes, V8 gladiator is going to encroach into the big dick sales of the Mexican RAM. Also the entire "segment" is full of lame ass V6s...

I do think that a V8 "top of the line" version wouldn't hurt.

Also what's this power envy ? 300hp in a 4500lb vehicle is still sufficient. When you are riding on top of the mountain on marshmellow tires with two giant rods connecting all the wheels into a train like suspension system, WTF is the point of laying the hammer down?
I specifically spec'd the V6 in my dads 300, and so far it has been great. That combo is plenty for normal driving. Not everyone appreciates/needs power and it just becomes :wasteful:

when the time comes for the woman to get a newer car (whenever that will be) you bet your ass I will choose the more economical engine. Different strokes for different folks.
