That's the miata. Short wheelbase really helps with the approach angles and the narrow track width gives you more line choices.

You can do anything, but people will call you out on being stupid, so get used to it.

There's a reason they make different types of hammers, otherwise we'd all just own one sledge and call it good.
They're just cars. Drive them however you enjoy driving them. Sell them when you're done.

We're not talking about priceless historic vehicles here. They are indeed tools, but the best one for the job to some of us is the one that's the most fun...
I DGAF about price.

I care about driving something safe and not being killed in a case of the stupids. The Corvettes have a bad habit getting sideways on dry roads, have fun in the snow, even with snow tires.

Nobody makes C5 lift kits. Bolts would work in the front, but the rear is limited.

If you took the worthless body panels off, you should be able to fit 40" boggers no problem.

Go buy some 17's and winter tires and slap them on your car to see how it goes then? Can't be that expensive.
To agree with :waxer: a bit, the salt will corrode parts on the underside of my car, and I don't want to be dealing with that on a car I want to enjoy during the summer months as well. I would do this experiment with a high mileage auto C5 as they're all but worthless and I honestly wouldn't care about the salt on it any more than I do with my truck that's worth the same amount of money. If I had fixed the rear differential earlier in the season and realized how much less comfortable it drives than the Corvette I may have actually pulled the trigger on this exact experiment, but winter has arrived earlier than expected here so this entire page of :triggered: was just because I said I'd like to try it.

Wheelbase helps with breakover...the front overhang is the issue with approach. A Miata is pretty good here, but a C5 is terrible.

Fluid film is way cheaper than a "worthless" C5. Just spray liberally under your car and enjoy ZFG.

The ESC, TCS, and ABS on even a C5 is pretty good. Maybe try sticking to double digit speeds on public roads? :iono:

All great until the EBCM shits the bed...which isn't fixable on pre-01 cars...making them the most worthless and best candidate for this experiment of them all.

Respectfully, I call bullshit.

My C5, C6 and C7s had EXTREMELY liberal traction control systems. They let you get much further into potential trouble than any other car I've owned.

The tc and handling systems in the C5 are quite dated by modern standards.

Perfect for snow

I guess I really am in hell now, apparently I died in my purple car when it became uncontrollable in the snow. No wonder this place sucks so much. :thisisfine:

It's really more about driver control and awareness than the vehicle itself IMO.

I'd be more worried about getting stuck due to ground clearance in the front and RWD without a ton of weight over the rear wheels. I guess if you took the air dam off and put some bolts to raise the font (gasser look to transfer weight rearward) then maybe...but I can't imagine the car is "fun to drive" anymore. We got 8" of snow yesterday...it was accumulating faster than they could clear it. I wouldn't have gotten out of my driveway in a C5, or any sports car unless I was waiting for the snow plow to drive by and left within a few hours of that. It came by once yesterday.

I'm not claiming a "truck" is necessary...the Volt did fine in the snow on snow tires...I'd plow ZFG. But FWD is superior for traction in that situation.

In situations without significant snow accumulation, it probably would be if you're REALLY careful with throttle application.

But it's the times where there is significant accumulation that screws you...

"Hey boss, sorry I can't come in today, it snowed 6" overnight and my Corvette can't get out of the driveway because they haven't plowed the street yet"

"ok, come in after they plow..."

Two hours later...

"Hey boss, yea...they plowed and now there's a 10" berm at the bottom of my driveway. Tried blasting through it and got stuck. Tow truck should be here in 2-4 hours...I'll be in then"

Or you could just drive the fucking car at stock height with good tires? It's really not that hard.

Don't listen to me though, I only actually did it. You looked out the window and imagined that you couldn't do it, therefore your experience is superior in this situation.
