So I have seen this car through and through, my stepmom bought hers new in 2011. It has been a pretty interesting experience...
0 issues years 0-5, as expected. Audi Quality is better than VW. (I did do 2 full brake jobs in 95k miles). Goes through tires every 35-40k as well.

Year 6, water pump and engine mount failed. Indy + Dealer both had the same $ they wanted $2k. This may be a bigger issue on the 2.slow vs other motors though.
Now we're approaching year 8, and a bunch of little shit started failing.
HID light ( mentioned in my post) easy enough to fix, but frustrating, as it requires air box removal etc. Plastic became brittle and clips are breaking
The oil level sensor has failed... and there is no way to measure the oil, and this thing burns 1 quart every 3500 miles, always has.
The Diverter valve also took a shit... still have to replace that
Doing an oil change is a fucking nightmare on this car, it has 16 bolts for an underbody pan that have to be removed, every time. It is just a senselessly complicated piece, (same as they did with the dip stick etc) it just seems over engineered for no reason.
Dealers are SUPREMELY EXPENSIVE. $199 oil changes sometime as high as $299, they wanted $2500 for the brake job, that I did for $550 with FCP euro parts (Brakes+rotors+sensors)

So if you plan on working on it yourself I say yes, that's a good option. But I am really dreading this car at this point in time... I don't want to constantly help them out with this minor nickel and diming shit.

It will be really reliable for 5 years, after that... if you plan on dumping it then I say go for it... Also to keep in mind, hers was $47k new, it is now worth 7-8k @ 8 years and 95k miles.
So the one you posted will follow the same pattern... it'll lose 30k in 5 years... That's not an insignificant sum, but if you're ok with that it's cool. ~$500 a month...
You're talking 2.0T Q5 to 3.0T Q5, though, and 2nd MY to the final MY. Early Q5s were not great in terms of engine reliability. Same issues that plagued GTIs (water pumps, diverter valves, etc) PLUS oil consumption. They fixed all that after 2013 though.

3.0T is a thuper tholid engine. Tunabros romp on them hard (and I've witnessed repeated abuse at the tunahaus I worked for). That engine just keeps coming back for more.

But yeah, depreciation is real, as is maintenance.
She has the 2.slow
Diverter valves fail... I mean its an "easy" fix and it's $50 but it is still a check engine light etc. Also I hear water pumps on the 3.slow fail as well.

It belongs on the list per the broad rules. It's a car transaction. Period.

:melon: could have fixed the Camry and she could still be rolling in it. That was the smart decision.

The logic was that I could have driven the Volt myself and let her get a new thing.

I didn't know there was a new one, it's been a long time since I went to a movie or saw any Terminator stuff. I might have seen Salvation, don't remember for sure. Ain't nobody got time for all this stuff.

Well, basically scrub anything after T2 from your memory and go see the new one. The new one is a direct sequel to T2: Judgement Day and has Arnold and Linda Hamilton, along with James Cameron as a producer. This one should be good (unlike the abortions that were the last few Terminator movies).

I personally think spouse moves counting as :plac: is kinda :bs: :iono:

It's supposed to be a bout this forum, not a bunch of women we don't know. That said, Michele's :plac: tendencies are pretty  .

I personally say, discuss the :tits: :plac: but it doesn't really count as part of DFD.
