I hate work :doe: and won't really be happy until I can retire, so more money is going to always be better long term until then. Ain't nobody gonna pay me to blow 60 hours a week on muzak and then go racing on the weekends, all in Southern France.
No, but maybe you could get a job working a sound board for a music venue or something. My soon-to-be-sister-in-law works as a lighting specialist for a stage prep company, they tour all over the place with bands and weird shit setting up speakers and lighting. She likes it, travel is like 25% of the time and she gets to see the concerts for free. :iono: there are possibilities out there I think that would pay something and still allow you to work in/close to what you like.

Another one of my friends works for Exxon mobil research in their race fuels division. He gets to go to all sorts of races and stuff from Nascar to F1 to whatever. Lots of travel but he's around the racing team and drivers and in the pits keeping the race cars working right.
:word:

It's all different strokes. My goal is to be out playing gigs on most weeknights and free to go do other shit on weekends (and hopefully play 3rd stage at some random euro festivals in the summer), so a regular day job with European vacation policies is as close to a realistic dream job as exists.

If I had a master's degree and didn't hate kids, teaching would be good too.

that sounds bad ass.
He seems happy-ish, time away from home and his daughter is hard though. He's gone basically every Wednesday through Sunday.

This is what I got from one of the Dyson Racing engineers that I as chatting with at Mid-Ohio years ago. He was a data guy for the race team on weekends and had a regular job down in Airboatlandia IIRC. Time away from the family was hard.

I really should have asked to sit in the RS Spyder, instead I was an inch away from it.

Other date night idea: Go to the local animal rescue and walk some of their doggies together. $free
Did this often. 5/7 idea.

yesss... you can pick a real low miles clean one up for under $24k. After the first hit the depreciation curve levels out.
But I can afford new. I found a few 2018 models, new, for $25k
:notbad: at all. I sat in one and it was $31k iirc.

No thanks, Jeff.
I have two dogs at home that I already have to walk more than I’d like.

Would be down for that, or those art classes when you drink wine and replicate a painting.

There's a local place where they have a bunch of bare pottery items and you pick one out and paint it. They then fire it and you pick it up later.

A friend wanted to do this for her birthday. I was

We get there and our friends all brought a bottle of wine...the place encourages you to paint and drink.

Holy hell, we had a blast. Wife and I went back a few weeks later to paint some more things with a bottle of wine as a "date night". 5/7 for sure.

That sounds good. The place we went to, we made our bowls or cups or whatever, and then painted them. They fired them and mailed them to us. It was a good time.

It's pretty lol now but I was really  that date night (that I surprised planned) was ruined by that and as a result we don't have the picture hanging up. I think it's in the basement or we threw it out.

Oh well, haha.

Two different activities, though similar.

I'm talking about going to a place with premade pottery and painting it. The biggest decision is "what color should I paint this owl candle holder? Purple? Done."

Vs the canvas painting places..

Here's a painting of the overpass of 696, you paint it too!

OMG the offramp starts on the left middle, not left lower.

That light pole is brown, not grey

Holy fuck that's supposed to be a car, not a Jeep

Art is all about interpretation and creative liberty. :whocares:
Right, but the goal of these things is to duplicate a painting. Kind of :bs: really.
