Monthly insurance approximately $37
Repair expenses have been minimal thus far, maybe $1200, including a set of tars.
Paid $28500 OTD cash 92 months ago.

Does that mean it's cost me $460/month since day 1?
Thats about as close as my monthly payment :yikes: :jelly:

:whocares: what it would cost if it wasn't bundled? The only thing that matters is what I pay. Why don't you believe me? I'm old, white, married, live in a good town with very low crime, have a clean record, and my car is 8 years old. Just got the renewal notice for $451 for both cars for 6 months.

Good point. Present value of my car brings down my monthly to right around $400. :notbad:

Ron and Sawce got GTIs hand forged by real Aryans in the secret furnaces of the Ruhr Valley. They rest of us got tin cans built by Turks and Hungarians who had too many doners and beer at lunch with paper mache mache water pumps.

That's low for driving a brand new nearly $40k car. The golf R bros are spending 50% more in large part because they actually drive.

I would be quite interested in a mechanical explanation for how your water pump has never been replaced in 8 years and 2 of mine shit the bed in less than 3.5 years and 30K miles.

:sawce: and I had a discussion recently on the longevity of our :turboyaris: 's. We came to the conclusion that our very high highway miles as a percentage of total miles driven helped keep our cars healthy, certainly contributing to not needing a carbon cleaning (yet). But as to the waterpump? :iono: what to say except VW churns out millions of these things and they have a pretty solid reputation for reliability in the ROW so the odds of getting a decent one can't be that low.

Of course, I've now jinxed myself and I'll leave work to find a pretty pink puddle under my car today. Thanks, Dirk.

I had no problems besides getting bored, but only did 25k miles on mine. I don't know how to keep from getting tired of a car - I keep thinking that maybe buying something "perfect" would keep the :plac: away but that's more than I can afford.

I never got the"pink puddle" mine just started losing coolant slowly and it was the water pump both times.

One time, about 2-3 years ago, I saw the coolant level drop over several weeks from the max line to just above the min. I brought it up at the next service and the :dillerman: topped it up to the seam on the bottle (about .25" above the max line) It's dropped a bit, but it's still a smidge above the max line when I last checked it yesterday afternoon. If my wp is leaking, it's a slow enough leak that I'm gonna :aintcare: unless/until I notice the drop rate increase a LOT.
