PC Masterrace

I've always wanted to build my own gaming PC and finally got the cojones to do it. The turn of events that led to this were somewhat interesting but I'll save that for another topic.

The centerpiece of the battle station is an Alienware 34" 3440x1440 GSync monitor so I needed a machine that would take advantage of that resolution with solid frame rates.

Hyper 212 Evo CPU cooler
MSI Gaming Plus Motherboard
16gb GSkill Ripjaws 3200 (2x8)
1Tb Samsung EVO NVMe m.2
500gb Samsung EVO SSD
EVGA GTX 1070ti FTW Ultra Silent
EVGA G3 650W Gold PSU
CoolerMaster RGB case fans x3 w/ controller
Rosewill Challenger S ATX mid-tower
LG DVD burner

Budget was $1500 and through some slick dealing managed to keep it around $1300, that is until I added the NVMe drive later on as an impulse buy. But prior to that I used the savings to get the keyboard/mouse/speakers for this setup.

Just did my first playthrough of the original Crysis and, wow! What a stellar game that still holds up 10+ years later! Epic.



All in all, this was a super fun project and I'll agree with whomever first said building a gaming PC is like Legos for adults!

Thanks man. For now gonna play through the Crysis trilogy which I got for $10. Maybe a re-play through Skyrim, have Middle Earth Shadow of War because Lord of the Rings, and when Far Cry 5 goes on sale I'll pick that up.

I just got my PC a month before deploying. So not much time on there. I typically bro game.

I've noticed that it's similar to modding cars in its hard to ever call it "finished" as there's always one way or another to tweak/upgrade/mod to push limits.

I'm having fun playing with overclocking, benchmarking, fan curves, voltages and whatnot with the common denominator between PC's and cars being the cooling element of the equation.

I play for fun and collecting stuff. I'm not an elite sorta person. Most people you run into will help you out, myself included. Now is the end of the current expansion and a perfect time to hop on and get acclimated before things ramp up in August.

Picked up FarCry5 in the Steam sale. Getting average FPS around 75 in the benchmark which is the most demanding title on my hardware so far (also newest title I own). The story sucks you in immediately. Very immersive experience.

After more time in the game I can say that, overall, Skyrim is still king of open-world RPG games.

My old Gtx 660 crapped out on me yesterday. Ordered a GeForce 1070 Ti today along with a 250 gig ssd and another sata cable. I love how it decides to crap out a week before the warcraft expansion

World pvp is where it's at right now. It's gonna be lit in the expansion.
A buddy of mine tear it up rogue style. Once it wears off I'll likely look into building a race SIM setup

Card came in. And my SSD. I love that they give you a giant fold out poster for the brand name. LOLZ.
Like I'm some 16 year old who's gonna sport a big ass EVGA lightning and thunderstorm lookin poster in my bedroom next to my Spencer's Jenny McCarthy poster.
