Gberg's Alpo Gorf with a bit of Plac Profit

You can take the man out of the :egg: but you can't take the :egg: out of the man.

Clearly I have issues going with another :gorf: but with a dash of :alpo: luck and some :plac: profit, it kind of made sense to try out another one. Hopefully I get different results.

So I ended up getting the wheel/tire protection (might regret it) as well as something new that VW is calling "Term Protection". It's $600 and VW will cover 1 alignment with recalibration, front and rear brake pads, wipers, 1 battery, and some other shit I won't need. Obviously I'm going to need more than 1 alignment over the course of a few years and apparently they make you sign a waiver if you get one done without the recalibration.

As far as the wheel and tire protection, I may regret it because since this car came with the englishtowns I was thinking of getting a set of BBS CH-R's as my summers. That would negate the wheel protection but I still think the tires would be covered. My other option is to sell the englishtowns and buy a set of 19" pretorias and use them for summer.

Most of my modz were transferred over where they really dragged me over the coals with my resonator delete, jack pads, knob, and wheels. I'll probably go with 40% tint this time around since I've already gotten pulled over for 30% and 35%.

:alpo: :gorf: Modz

Engine & Exhaust
  • aFe Pro Dry S filter
  • ECS Resonator Delete
Interior
  • OEM Golf R Monster Mats
  • Raceseng Contour shift knob in blue translucent
Wheels & Tires
  • 19x8 OEM Englishtowns w/ 235/35-19 Continental ContiSportContact 5P
  • 18x8 Enkei Raijins w/ 225/40-18 Michelin Pilot Sport AS3+
Misc.
  • OEM jack pad kit

I dig those seats a lot. Overall solid improvement over the 7... man they got you on the Undercoating eh ?

Overall :fuckyeah: also what's up with the wheels? did you move them from your mk 7?

Side note, first service already scheduled for tomorrow. They missed a few things during PDI. I pointed out that the hatch light was out Wednesday night but they never fixed it and I forgot about it until I was unpacking the car that night. And this morning I noticed the passenger grab handle is broken and sags down.

You made out like a bandit, $600 lubed up rape package and coal dragging or not, you came out on top on this deal. Hard.

Love it. Last one was great to drive, hopefully this one remedies the CEL issue. Good luck with it!

Burned out bulbs are just a VW way of life.
Broken grab handle is odd. The one on the door card?

Eh I guess. I know for sure I'll need at least rear pads in 50k miles as these cars always eat the rears first. That's a $300 job I won't have to pay for.

Yeah, I had them transfer the 18" enkeis with the all seasons over to the 2019. I'd really like to change to the 18" pretoria in black for winter but then I think it's a winter wheel and I'm all :whocares:

"Term protection" covers all bulbs too. :themoreyouknow:

Nah, it's the one on the headliner. I guess the spring in it is busted. They've ordered a new one for me already.

Yep. That's why I didn't notice the hatch light was still out until I started unpacking the car. I had 4 wheels and boxes of parts in it on the drive home from the :dillerman:

He's still here. A couple weeks ago was his 2 year mark. It's pretty :impressive:

Why do you ask?

The dude is the ULTIMATE brown noser. I guess he thinks it'll get him ahead here but he's going to be pretty disappointed when it doesn't. And he still brings in a big heavy backpack every day.

Good fucking lord
I'd buy some instagram worthy Rays or Works for that much before those.

A set of Rays are probably double.

CH-R's are $648 on tire rack.

Unless I'm missing something they're listed at $608 each.
Maybe I'm out of it though and wheels are really that expensive.

They are. And it is expensive but I always thought Rays and Works were a different kind of :waxer: . Hell, forged BBS FS is 19x8.5 and it's $1300 per wheel on tire rack.

Why not get something lighter and cheaper from OZ/sparco/enkei/etc?

19" FF04 are $625 a piece.

One positive about going with the pretoria's is that I'd be able to sell the englistowns and get some money back.

Enkei is out as I already have a set and the finish on them wore in less than a year. If I got an 18" I'd have to buy new tars as well.
