This includes getting out tools, cleaning, all that shit. :iono: my car work always takes about 300% of forumbruh times too, maybe it's just that I'm slow. I find that I always run into at least a handful of unexpected problems. In this particular job, one screw was stripped when I was trying to pull the bumper cover, and it took me about an hour to get it out. Other than that, it's just a lot of screws.
I like taking SOME things off of the VW, others have been a little sketchy, I wonder how similar VW and BMW are in this regard, @max225 probably knows.

I'm with you on taking longer then average, especially doing something on my car for the first time. :aintcare: about being efficient with my side projects.
Oh I wasn't trying to give him shit at all, I was just curious if it was much more difficult to disassemble the BEEMA or if he hit some snags.

Nah, like I said, I think it's actually engineered far better for this. I've mostly removed bumper covers on Japanese cars where they're held on by a series of clips that are impossible not to break. Part of the length of time was just the sheer number of screws and nuts, which adds time but IMO results in better quality and a bumper that still looks/fits like new after being removed and re-installed.

That is how I read it too, but somehow my thought just rolled into the next thought about you having experience working on your moms Q5 and your own :turboyaris: before that. Do you think all the German car makers are about the same when it comes to disassembly/repairs or is BMW easier to work on then VW/Audi?

I would say similar. From my experience Japanese cars are far less complex.

Hopefully you won’t have to pay em for it. Seems like :dillerman: call May be in order ... they are somewhat burning for business so rates should be ok

Sounds like they bled the brakes and haven’t had time to do much else yet :disgust: :hibachi:

I dropped it off Tuesday morning. They said Friday they will work on it more Monday and have an update.

Live and learn, I've never been a great mechanic, but fucking up over the years I certainly continue to learn.

Not to rub it in, but next time maybe post photos? We could have helped you diagnose that fast.

But now you know, bleeder always faces up!

:notwrong: :ohwell:

Live and learn. If that's the biggest fuckup, the I can live with it. I still saved quite a bit over taking the car to the shop for all of the shit, which would've easily been like $2-3K in labor.

Sometimes I just really suck with attention to detail on things, kinda :disappoint: in myself.
