Not quite. They're all AWD and the engine is mounted longitudinally, though in front of the front axle.

I always loved these things, and a :manuel: to boot? Kid's got great taste...hopefully it's reliable for him.

Oh, :word: dat :gorf: :notbad:

They also look way better than a Golf thing, the A5/S5 lines are really excellent.

I wanna guess the chassis is bigger then a golf thing. I don't think that it is the same thing.

I actually saw one an hour ago nearly identical in every way. They are aging gracefully.

Thanks guise. It drives like its new...planted, snug steering, the bolster seats hug the driver as the AWD hugs the road....it is surprisingly quick for 210hp pulling its weight....the clutch and shifter combo is like butter and the sound system kicks ass.....it is one of the nicest driving experiences I have ever had...... this car has me seriously considering an Audi as my next car. He is keeping his eyes open for another deal ...

He had a Unitronix Stage 1 tune done....... added 35 hp and 37 lb-ft . The gears seem to be quite a bit longer than that of a GTI so the extra power feels way different.

Interesting. Sounds fun! I always thought the GTI top gear would benefit from being taller, :notsure: on the first four gears. In4morepics.

Irish wrote: Thu Apr 11, 2019 6:58 pm SO, as some of you will remember, a few years back I was in the market for a car for my oldest son. We looked at a bunch, but the standouts were a 92 Nissan 300ZX :manuel: and a 2001 VW VR6 :manuel: .

I ended up buying him the dub because:

a) he has been pointing out GTI's since he was old enough to walk
b) the 2001 Mk4 was the generation he first loved, and
c) it was a one-owner, dealer serviced w/documentation, close to pristine specimen.

But I couldn't get the Z off of my mind. These were head turners for me back in the 90's and this one was fairly well-taken-care-of, garage kept with just over 100k farts. The guy was looking for $3500 but settled for a flat $3000..... So I said fuq it, and pulled the trigger.

Anyway, she is my garage car for the most part. Though I did let the the crotchfruit run it for a few semesters while I decided whether or not to have a timing chain put in the VR6 (I did). It was pulling a little before I put it away for the winter (prob bushings or ball joints).

I play around with the thoughts of having it painted (burgundy or burnt orange) but the pearl white is such a throwback to the 90's that I am afraid I will be sorry.

I also wish it was tubroed but I am way too :scrooge: for that.

It gets alot of attention as is.

Most likely scenario is that I will eventually trade it for something else that I find cool.
Well I'll be. :like:
