I keep reading the reviews of the button problem and there is some bitching but nobody ends up committing seppuku over it. It is still a strong value

old man status I'm sure he will quite enjoy having a turn key car that he can rely on 100%.Irish wrote: ↑Wed Jul 12, 2023 1:27 pm Yeah he has already joined the forums/clubs and is finding out about the steering wheel "issues".....He is not deterred....he is used to toxic relationships with cars after having a MK4 and the Audi. Will likely feel like coming home....... to a brand new that you both love and hate.... at least this one will have a warranty.
PS He is 26.5 yo now...its time to adult....

We are going to go over it with a fine toothed comb tonight and hopefully it will subsequently be in the driveway.....

Yeah, we shall see..... bigger issue is the oil consumption on the A5 that I decided to buy from him instead of letting the (Cornholio) him......Desertbreh wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 3:51 pmFinally, the truth about haptic buttons.Irish wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 2:46 pm It finally got driven down from Upstate NY. The ring job was done at 30k by previous owner (under warranty). It subsequently drank no oil....until recently. The timing chain was preventative @90K...attempt to prolong engine life as long as possible....
Lol....had the first "issue" right before leaving the (who sonny boy had previously worked for). The reading lights just wouldn't activate even after touching her like a French hoer.
They do look pretty good in person, and that big maw isn't such a big deal in the flesh. I really like the profile, with the character lines that are more reminiscent of the Mk6, specifically that one horizontal crease that goes all the way from the headlights to the taillights, instead of just disappearing into the fenders like on the Mk7.
Dude you’re almost as weird about the MK6 as Coog’s is about STIswap wrote: ↑Thu Jul 20, 2023 10:07 amThey do look pretty good in person, and that big maw isn't such a big deal in the flesh. I like what I like. I think the Mk6 is the high water mark for GTI styling. I concede the MQB is the objectively superior platform compared to the PQ35, but style-wise, I prefer the Mk6 and tne Mk8 takes some style cues from the 6.D Griff wrote: ↑Thu Jul 20, 2023 9:20 pmDude you’re almost as weird about the MK6 as Coog’s is about STIswap wrote: ↑Thu Jul 20, 2023 10:07 am

The new GTI does look good though, starting to see them around. I kinda dig the vomit yellow gold.
