I keep reading the reviews of the button problem and there is some bitching but nobody ends up committing seppuku over it. It is still a strong value
in this screwed up auto market.

I was probably the same age-ish as your son when I bought the original :mk6: 12 years ago. It should serve him well. In retrospect I would tell a 22 year old to just get a Corvette, they're better and cheaper to insure :lolol:

I bought my C5 at 22... not necessarily the worst decision.

Ha, I bought my Scirocco 16V at 22. Many of you would consider it a terrible DD but I drove it daily for 11 years and still miss it.

Yeah he has already joined the forums/clubs and is finding out about the steering wheel "issues".....He is not deterred....he is used to toxic relationships with cars after having a MK4 and the Audi. Will likely feel like coming home....... to a brand new :house: that you both love and hate.... at least this one will have a warranty.

PS He is 26.5 yo now...its time to adult....

:ohdang: old man status :lolol: I'm sure he will quite enjoy having a turn key car that he can rely on 100%.

It finally got driven down from Upstate NY. (We tried to take delivery up there to potentially avoid a :derp: driver beating on it on the way down, but no :dice: )

We are going to go over it with a fine toothed comb tonight and hopefully it will subsequently be in the driveway.....

Yeah, we shall see..... bigger issue is the oil consumption on the A5 that I decided to buy from him instead of letting the :dillerman: :bandb: (Cornholio) him......

He pulled off the air suspension and I took it for a good hoon the udder day....... me likey... a lot actually

it will give me some breathing room in deciding what the next whip is going to be..... (and hopefully the used market assholery will subside a bit in the coming years)....

My commute is 8 miles round trip these days, how much oil can it burn?

The outie has a relatively new color wrap, brand new turbro, he had the timing chain and piston rings done (it's still thirsty :doe:), immaculate interior w/ 125K farts

NO way we are giving it to :dillerman: for $3K.

Wait so the car had new rings/timing chain put in by 125k miles and is STILL burning oil or is burning oil AGAIN?

The ring job was done at 30k by previous owner (under warranty). It subsequently drank no oil....until recently. The timing chain was preventative @90K...attempt to prolong engine life as long as possible....

Turbo(recent) was hoping to correct the consumption....

I might throw a new pcv valve in it if the problem persists with my planned short burst driving....

Otherwise :iono:

Lol....had the first "issue" right before leaving the :dillerman: (who sonny boy had previously worked for). The reading lights just wouldn't activate even after touching her like a French hoer.

Self corrected on the ride home. :science:

They do look pretty good in person, and that big maw isn't such a big deal in the flesh. I really like the profile, with the character lines that are more reminiscent of the Mk6, specifically that one horizontal crease that goes all the way from the headlights to the taillights, instead of just disappearing into the fenders like on the Mk7.

Dude you’re almost as weird about the MK6 as Coog’s is about STIs :lolol:

The new GTI does look good though, starting to see them around. I kinda dig the vomit yellow gold.

:iono: I like what I like. I think the Mk6 is the high water mark for GTI styling. I concede the MQB is the objectively superior platform compared to the PQ35, but style-wise, I prefer the Mk6 and tne Mk8 takes some style cues from the 6.
