Yay, 2 day work weekend coming up for me. Vegas winnings type moolah so I'm drinking tonight and will get good sleep tomorrow instead. V-tines day was alright, but we are reserving our celebration for tomorrow night and then the marathon begins. Ready to adopt me and my family? I could be the son you never wanted

Meh. KY had all the same shit but better quality and for less money. There are no redeeming qualities to this place, just gotta keep my head down and do my time.Johnny_P wrote:Weather is rough up there this time of year. I'm tired of NY already. Guess I need to get a better job than the wife and make her move for me next time.
Hows the local avo toast scene? And I agree with Breh, get a $20 burger, it'll make it all better.
The handful of decent places here cater almost exclusively to corporate card users so the prices are all insane. You can eat better for less in Manhattan.

Hm. You're not an outdoorsy guy IIRC, but it could be worthwhile to try hiking / canoeing / kayaking / whatever in the warmer months. It's a very pretty part of the world that's dotted with tiny dilapidated poor af towns. Get away from those and maybe some of the will go away too. Just a suggestion. I know walking through mud getting sweaty and drinking out of water bottles is for poor people though.
You could get a quad or something. Dirt bike. That's got to be pretty easy to park up there. Lots of dirt roads up there to rip around on.

Bar last night had many beers for $8 now. The days of $2 pours are long gone. At least Manhattan has a shitload of competition.Apex wrote: ↑Fri Feb 15, 2019 9:17 amtroyguitar wrote: ↑Fri Feb 15, 2019 8:29 am Meh. KY had all the same shit but better quality and for less money. So many people with engineering degrees go into banking.
Hours aren't bad, and I'm now at a point where they're super flexible. Not many nights where I'm in the office at 7:30pm dealing with issues.

Competition and customer volume keeps things reasonable in the bigger cities. Sure, you can also blow 4 figures in one sitting but there are fantastic places for 2 figures in pretty much every metro area.

Yeah that's one solid advantage of a place like where I live. There's excellent food options anywhere between $5 and $150 a person.troyguitar wrote: ↑Fri Feb 15, 2019 9:39 amCompetition and customer volume keeps things reasonable in the bigger cities. I mean I was getting locally brewed IPAs on nitro last night so the $8 per is to be somewhat expected I guess.

No, not alphaprick dude. But for the last 2 years since I changed jobs here I am no longer under his thumb, which has been for my mental state. This is a new guy who was hired 6 months ago to create and manage a procurement/inventory control (my current job) department. He tried taking people like me (26 years experience here) and the purchasing manager (28 years experience here) and reduce them to new employee status with new metrics that he wanted to review us on, things like attitude, worth ethic, reliability, etc. I wouldn't be here for over 26 years if I didn't have all those things in spades. I told bossbro about this a couple weeks ago and he was all at the corporate . He's very big on nurturing our laid back, non-corporate culture of people who respect each other, get along, and get shit done with minimal managerial interference. My alerting him to this drove him to have a long, after-hours talk with the guy about this corporate being not at all who we are and the dude just didn't seem to get it. Turns out that meeting was when bossbro first began to realize that the guy wasn't going to make it here. Oops.Tarspin wrote: ↑Fri Feb 15, 2019 1:04 amIs this alpha male dude who rubs you the wrong way? :good: :fuckthatguy:wap wrote: ↑Thu Feb 14, 2019 10:43 pm
A new guy no one seemed to like got fired today. Came aboard thinking he was a hot shit king maker. Called himself Senior Director of Global Procurement. He was all theory and acronyms and spreadsheets but after 6 months he didn't actually DO anything. I (gently) complained to bossbro about him, and, I found out today, so did many others, including people outside our company, so our vendors. That's a big ol' so bossbro pulled his plug right when I was supposed to have a meeting with the dude. Oh well...
