Thanks, job change went from being in front of the computer all day with the freedom of posting to walking around the property of work fixing computers and occasionally running back to my desk for a break.[user not found] wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2019 12:33 pmSolid my friend.3rdgenfan wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2019 9:28 am
Went up to Suffern, NY and bought the car after seeing it posted on LS1GTO.com and having a Brazen Orange car in Kentucky slip through after the seller didn't want to do an 'out of state sale'
It's a P1SC-1 Procharged LS1, 78k miles with the red interior. It was a gamble because the for sale thread had shit pictures and the guy never sent me interior shots so I was a bit worried we'd get up there and it would be trashed....except aside from the dirty exterior (reg went out in 2014, tires were from 2011 and it's sat since tags went out) I opened the door and was greeted with perfect leather; only major issue with the interior was a sundried arm rest and steering wheel.
Once I got it home I saw a neighbor had a wrecked GTO and tossed a dollar amount at him for a handful of parts.
The Duramax did just fine with this load, and a few months ago I towed a TBSS home from about the same distance with zero complaints. We snagged a 944 down in Springfield VA in the beginning of June and with a real trailer (read: Not a uHaul) it was flawless.
Also good to see you back. Sad to see the TurDI took a
Carnage pics:
No idea what broke first to cause that, but some valve to piston contact at 80mph.

Nah they look to be good, but with as much debris that got circulated I wouldn't trust them. I'd at least throw some new rod bearings in, head is trashed obviously. I opted to just get a longblock to save time.
Yeah, it's driven by the timing belt, and the pump is basically a completely separate motor as it is.
Heres a preview of the new block after some cleaning/painting.

Rabbit update:
Turbo is shot. Sounds like it's falling apart when spooling above idle.
GTO Update:
I took the bumper off to look at the condition of the couplers, they'll need to be replaced as they seem pretty crusty but no worries. We found the source of the CEL and it was a PCV nipple at the throttle body just dumping air right out, so it was a pretty big boost leak. Took the headlights out, swapped in a passenger side that I had wet sanded and cleared from a wrecked car, and sanded down the drivers side. Waiting on new bumper clips to show up but the Holden set up may go on but I'd like to have it painted first.
Took the picture while walking, and the phone had decided to take it a second after pressing the button. Oh well.

Yeah just waiting to see if the company I bought the turbo from decides to call me back with some support/part numbers.[user not found] wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2019 2:33 pm Sad! about the TDI turbro.
Also, missed that the GTO was boosted.
May flip the blower for a different kit or some kind of yerrbo.

Go with an LSA kit. More compact, less piping, and undoes everything done by Captain Ziptie.3rdgenfan wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2019 8:26 amYeah just waiting to see if the company I bought the turbo from decides to call me back with some support/part numbers.[user not found] wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2019 2:33 pm Sad! about the TDI turbro.

I think lower motor mounts and some cuts to the bracing will give the needed clearance.CaleDeRoo wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2019 10:02 amBye bye hood though?Huckleberry wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2019 9:21 am
