Initially, yup. Buy a $32,000 SE for $29k and 1 year / 15k miles later it'll be worth $22k. Then 5 years after that with 90k (15k/yr) on it it'll still be worth $12k. That's why I bought mine with a few miles on it and $9,500 off MSRP.

This is really not a bad option, but I think if he wants more "fun" and is considering a FiST off the bat, the Civic Sport will likely fall short of what he wants? Never driven one so I have no dog in that fight.

Worth checking out though. I think the hatch is the best version of the Civic. 1.5T makes some power, 6MT can be upgraded with Si/R shifter tower for cheap to make it sublime, 87 octane donkey piss, heard there's rev hang so that kind of blows, very likely better resale, IMO it looks good.

:iono:

Image
Fun is what the vette is for. Civic sport handles great for a daily and the shifter and clutch are perfect why fuck with it?! Oh yea modddzzz bruh
Agreed mostly. When the Sport came out there were complaints of the shifter not feeling precise, and many people seemed to have success just swapping the plastic shift towers out for the stronger reinforced ones from the Si/R. OEM part :iono:

I was really thinking of getting that track prepped Emola Red one. But things have changed now and I don't really want to commute long ways in that thing. I could still see picking one up as a track/fun car if I decide not to keep the Corvette, but I dunno, the 'vette will likely stay. I own it outright, it's reliable and fun. I think if I have another DD it has a lot of staying power.

:gtfo: with crotchfruit planning. He may see the path before him but plausible deniability is still an acceptable thing here.
:dat:

Definitely no crotchfruit in the coming couple of years, and if we have :baby: in like 2022 (which is possible, maybe even likely) I'll deal with that then. I'm not going to let that determine what I buy now. I bet those rear facing monstrosities don't fit in any of these cars, hopefully a used SS will be somewhat cheap by then.
Rear facing fits great in my Mexi-egg.

Check into the turbro Honda clutches if you're considering one. Last I heard people were experiencing a decent amount of failures on stock cars.

My MK6 had 60k on it and I got $8500 for it so :idbu:

They depreciate hard. Buy a used Sport like Coogles did. It's the best spec, and someone else took the rape for the first year depreciation.

On Si's especially. Tune it and it's :roasted: just like a GTI. But even stock they've been getting :roasted:

Hard to tell how much of that is from dopey first MT car drivers.

Yeah, I just looked on the Honderp site... it does seem like a better way to go, $5k less, more usable as a hatch, looks better, same color options, smaller wheels which is kind of nice. The only thing I think I would miss is the LSD, but I can live without it to get to work and back.

I still kind of want something a little more fun, but I'll definitely check it out.

The hatches are all over the place down here. And I think they look good. Even with the black bumper warts. :iono:
Si sedan is the worst looking of the entire Civic lineup. Which is annoying because the coupe looks good. It's all in that rear bumper.

Bend over, baby. I got $11.5k for mine with something like 57k on it. :dillerman: sold it for $14k.

Check out prices on ~6 year old MK6s right now. 2012s are still easily $10k+ even with high miles on them, lower mile cars are $12k-$14k, and the MK7 SEs cost more to begin with. 2012 Sis seem to be going for similar money, so while you spend a little more on the GTI new versus the Si, after 6 years they'll be worth similar. And GTIs generally can be had so discounted that the actual purchase price isn't that far off.

Obviously still best to go gently used, but GTI values don't seem to tank long-term any more than comparable cars, save maybe the :fullretard: pricing on WRX hatches.

I always buy and sell shit at the wrong times. GTI values were bad when I sold mine, likely due to dieselgate souring the brand? IDK. But $8500 was the highest offer I got across about 6 dealerships. Now they're stronger apparently.

When I bought my STI they were still very hard to deal on. Now you can get a deal rather easily on them. As such, WRX/STI used prices are dropping. Yay fun.

I should get a JL. What could possibly go wrong. I'll literally make money when I go to resell it.

Could get an A4 CPO manuel for about the price of an R
https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sal ... elCode1=A4

Go older/non-cpo and you can get a really nice A4 for around $20k. Might not be any fun tho. IDK never driven an A4.
