I didn't take any pictures since I was too busy enjoying the scenery with family that lives in the area, but spent a week in the Colorado Springs area and am enamored with it, though it's very cost prohibitive honestly at the same time.
Next up in a long weekend in the Dallas area, though I'm not sure how much exploring we'll get to do since it's a work related trip for the wife for more than half the time we'll be there.

They now have 10 restaurants. The horse stable, vineyard. 2 Hotels on site. Its quite the operation.

You could easily spend an entire weekend there and go mega

Ah. Right. The vineyard was running but they were still building that resort when we were there. Forgot that it's open by now. Looks 5/7, anddubshow wrote: ↑Tue Jul 10, 2018 11:47 amThey now have 10 restaurants. The horse stable, vineyard. 2 Hotels on site. Its quite the operation.

So, uh, where are y'all getting prices for travel stuff? This is our best current estimate for 2 weeks in France, mostly Paris, 21 September to 8 October:
flights to and from US $2,300.00 CVG to CDG on Delta - regular economy
6-day paris museum pass $173.16
2CV tour @ night $292.50
7 nights in 3 Poussons hotel $1,386.45
Train from Paris to Nimes (Sat morning) $117.00
Tour of Nimes and Pont Du Gard $187.20
2 nights in Appart-City Confort Arena Nimes $388.44 picking a fancier room, could be less, get 20% off if booked 40+ days in advance
1 night in Carcassonne $157.95 call for availability
2 day car rental $150.00 Eurocar was WAY cheaper than Avis
Train from Perpignan to Paris $87.75
6 nights in Le General hotel $1,602.90 picking a fancier room, could be less, get 20% off if booked 40+ days in advance
TOTAL $6,843.35
That's not counting any food or metro use or any other "stuff" to purchase.

We decided to put the 2 week euro-trip on ice until I feel more comfortable leaving the country for 2 weeks and missing that much work.
Instead, Im flying us to Austin for F1 instead of driving all over. Then flying sunday night after the race to Vegas. Never been to vegas. Still figuring which hotel to on while being on the strip.
Also planning a show to see and the hoover dam excursion which is 6 hours 1 day.
After that, I am trying to figure the best way to fly to Fairbanks AK and find a rural resort to see magnetic lights in the sky at night. Will be ~4 days in Vegas and ~4 days in AK.

Dang. Both Paris hotels I'm familiar with are sold out from Sept 21 through the 28th. Did you accidentally pick a popular week?troyguitar wrote: ↑Tue Jul 24, 2018 2:29 pm So, uh, where are y'all getting prices for travel stuff? The 6 day Paris pass is a good deal. It should also include Metro and bus transportation too, no?
Train prices and car rental seem in line.

It seems like there's always something going on, but yeah that week has a lot of shit either sold out or priced much higher than the next week.
We're on the Paris pass, it is an extra $200-275/person, $400-550 total vs the Paris *museum* pass that we've quoted. Need to do the on that one vs separate museum and transit passes, especially since we'll be returning for a second week.

It's been a while since I've done Vegas.. We used to stay at the Palms Place.. just a bit off the strip, but has decent suites for somewhat cheap.dubshow wrote: ↑Tue Jul 24, 2018 2:39 pm We decided to put the 2 week euro-trip on ice until I feel more comfortable leaving the country for 2 weeks and missing that much work.

I was very unimpressed with Mandalay Bay the last time I stayed there. First room the AC was broken, not a huge deal since they can move us. They wouldn't let us stay on the same floor we were on even though there were open rooms (we had 3 rooms total for a large bachelor party) so we got put on a different floor, in a handicap room (no shower, just an awkard tub with hand rails everywhere) that allowed smoking, so it smelled like shit. Kept requesting to be moved out of there, but they wouldn't, and wouldn't comp us anything for it after the trip was over.

For anyone who is outdoorsy, I highly recommend using one of the outfitting companies that drops you off at the dam with a canoe and to spend a few days paddling and camping down the river. They pull you out at a designated spot and drive you and all your gear back to your car at their location. Pretty cool.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Tue Jul 24, 2018 3:37 pmThis is better than any show in Vegas.
