Damn. Screen cap of the motorcycle guy from this
werk block
Depends on what color it is....kidding...
Totally fine as a starter bike. Learn to ride first, if you end up enjoying it, find something that fits you a bit better later.
What I really want is a WR250R but they’re expensive. This would be pretty cheap somewhere around $2k I’d guess.NeonJonny wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2019 6:59 pmDepends on what color it is....kidding...
Height only helps a motorcyclist. I’m 6’1’’ and tip toed on my r6 at lights. Going slow and turning in parking lots are where most people crash.
Not to be a hater like in 99% of all my posts but the 250 market is so specific. There’s really not much you can do on them except eat miles. It can eat miles but they’re uncomfortable. If you aren't looking for a 10-11 second bike and you’re absolutely cool with something kind of slow get a drz400sm or something similar. My bike is like 38hp and its more fun than my r6 ever was. Rides like a couch, decent 0-60 if i keep the front wheel down, and its no big deal if i tip it over!
You might look for a DR650. Should be cheap an plentifulJohnny_P wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2019 8:39 pmWhat I really want is a WR250R but they’re expensive. This would be pretty cheap somewhere around $2k I’d guess.NeonJonny wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2019 6:59 pm

I’m surprised you disagree. It seems to me the 400 would be easier to maneuver than the tank that is the 650. Weight is scary to deal with for new riders. The less weight the better. This isn't a mountain bike with an engine.Big Brain Bradley wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2019 9:22 pm Everything Zilch said. The 250 is cheap and good to learn on if you want, but the dr650 is great too. A 400sm is not a good starting bike IMHO.
My versys 300 is a great starter too but they are still new and not very cheap yet.
Just. Buy. Something. And go ride, decide if you like it!
DR’s aren’t that heavy relative to other streetbikes. CBR250 is 350ish wet, DR is 370-ish.NeonJonny wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2019 12:07 amI’m surprised you disagree. I dont run 17s.... i run the 18/21 stock rims with 90% dirt knobbies on the street. I think SM is personally.

Neat thread / blog.
work is stupid.
hahaha my first bike is 550lbs. I guess it depends on the rider. Weight wasnt an issue for me. It was the seating position I was most concerned with. Making sure I could be on the bike an hour without issue. Ergonomics of the bike were the major factor for me.NeonJonny wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2019 12:07 amI’m surprised you disagree. Where do you look for these? None on crangslist that I can find, and a few on cycletrader but they're newer ones and expensive.
Yeah so that CBR is in that range. Kind of thought a little enduro would make more sense with the road conditions I deal with. Maybe it doesn't matter, just get one and see if it's a thing I want to do or not.4zilch wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2019 5:29 amDR’s aren’t that heavy relative to other streetbikes. But, back to the original discussion: JP buy something cheap and depreciated somewhere in the neighborhood of 20-40hp. Something with ABS isn’t a bad idea for the added safety factor either.
Most forums I can find are split straight down the middle on this subject regarding taller riders especially. All agree lightweight is desirable. Some say 250 is good. Others say get a larger bike because you're tall.Barnes93cb wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2019 9:15 amhahaha my first bike is 550lbs. I guess it depends on the rider. Weight wasnt an issue for me. But I agree. Go out and ride. Get a bike.

I guess step 1 is get a helmet and jacket and gloves. Step 2 is try and ride some shit? If that means buying a bike so be it.
I'm sure that'll be cake for a newbBig Brain Bradley wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2019 4:34 pmJust go get the big boy gs1200 avd fully kitted out and ride off into the sunsetJohnny_P wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2019 4:26 pm

Hmm. Might try Facebook market place, it seems to be becoming more popular than crangslist
