A friend of mine upgraded to a 600cc crotch rocket. He's selling his 2012 CBR 250R. What think? Would this be retarded for someone 6'2"?

Depends on what color it is....kidding...


Height only helps a motorcyclist. I’m 6’1’’ and tip toed on my r6 at lights. Going slow and turning in parking lots are where most people crash.
Not to be a hater like in 99% of all my posts but the 250 market is so specific. There’s really not much you can do on them except eat miles. It can eat miles but they’re uncomfortable. If you aren't looking for a 10-11 second bike and you’re absolutely cool with something kind of slow get a drz400sm or something similar. My bike is like 38hp and its more fun than my r6 ever was. Rides like a couch, decent 0-60 if i keep the front wheel down, and its no big deal if i tip it over!

That’s kind of my thinking. Are these sporty standard type bikes any good at eating up potholes?

Probably easier to dodge them. Something with a 19 or 21” spoke wheel would be a better choice for riding through them.

My versys 300 is a great starter too but they are still new and not very cheap yet.

DR’s aren’t that heavy relative to other streetbikes. CBR250 is 350ish wet, DR is 370-ish.

But, back to the original discussion: JP buy something cheap and depreciated somewhere in the neighborhood of 20-40hp. Something with ABS isn’t a bad idea for the added safety factor either.

hahaha my first bike is 550lbs. I guess it depends on the rider. Weight wasnt an issue for me. It was the seating position I was most concerned with. Making sure I could be on the bike an hour without issue. Ergonomics of the bike were the major factor for me.

But I agree. Go out and ride. Get a bike.

Yes! Get a bike. My first bike was a brand new 2007 R6. I didn’t think i would ever enjoy crashing so I chose not to. :lolol: 40k miles on that sucker without any scratches. Never dropped it.

Where do you look for these? None on crangslist that I can find, and a few on cycletrader but they're newer ones and expensive.

Yeah so that CBR is in that range. Kind of thought a little enduro would make more sense with the road conditions I deal with. Maybe it doesn't matter, just get one and see if it's a thing I want to do or not.

hahaha my first bike is 550lbs. I guess it depends on the rider. Weight wasnt an issue for me. It was the seating position I was most concerned with. Making sure I could be on the bike an hour without issue. Ergonomics of the bike were the major factor for me.

But I agree. Go out and ride. Get a bike.
Most forums I can find are split straight down the middle on this subject regarding taller riders especially. All agree lightweight is desirable. Some say 250 is good. Others say get a larger bike because you're tall.

I guess step 1 is get a helmet and jacket and gloves. Step 2 is try and ride some shit? If that means buying a bike so be it.
