The US National WHitewater Center, which has our largest trail network, has had the trails closed since December and they opened back this week. I think I might go ride tomorrow AM, might be shit, but worth a try at least. I miss it.[user not found] wrote: ↑Thu Feb 07, 2019 12:53 amTrails are all trashed right now - freeze/thaw cycle plus rain. Big ol'
But I agree. Dying to ride right now. Can't wait to hit the trails in Florida.

You take that steel steed out for a ride yet or is it just wall art?

I've taken it out a few times.....bought some nice Shimano shoes, etc. etc. We have this thing going in in the Valley called the CV Link. http://www.coachellavalleylink.com/. It's only partially completed. That's where I would rather do my cycling than the streets. We do have fair amount of bike lanes, but the arterial speeds in this area are insanely high, and I really am not interested in being maimed by somebody texting and driving 60 mph.
TLDR: 90% wall art. Seller was 10/10 though, delivered as advertised and it rides really nice.

Looks like these guys have a Saturday "C" ride, and vintage bike conversational rides on some Sundays, if you wanted to get more into it.

Pex if you want to borrow it let me know. Even if you don't buy it, just to try out choad riding. My All City has a second wheelset with slicks now so I can choad if I want / care to.

It's a ton of fun. Plus beer and food and bikes. And shenanigans.

Might have to take you up on that some time. I have a spare set of SPD pedals too...
Anything else I'd need to choad?

Spandex is helpful, wind resistance at speed is real. But really just a helmet and flat pedals would suffice. Would look funny to ride a Cervelo with cargo shorts and a MTB helmet and FiveTen shoes but plenty of people show up to our road group rides on knobby tire cross bikes or in T shirts.

I found that on a local bike shop website. Talking to guys at the LBS is likely the easiest/fastest way to find out about local rides that won't kill you.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Thu Feb 07, 2019 2:47 pmGood tip, bike clubs are one of those things that is always on the "maybe next weekend" list.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Thu Feb 07, 2019 2:44 pm

Philly area peoples, come out and play bikes on Saturday. I think it'll be a 9AM race start. $10 to race, course is roughly 1 mile long so there will be multiple laps. CX and MTB are welcome! Proceeds go to our nonprofit sponsors.

Fuckin' A man..... I should watch that Anthem and see if he still has it in a month, see how firm he really is on price...

It's a great price as it is. That Trance though, I think you'd like it more. It has more slam-into-shit ability than the Anthem.Apex wrote: ↑Tue Feb 19, 2019 11:35 amJohnny_P wrote: ↑Tue Feb 19, 2019 10:21 am Apex....

Trance definitely has more of an attitude, IMO.[user not found] wrote: ↑Wed Feb 20, 2019 9:39 amI mean, they both have a ton of slam-into-shit ability.

Not a bad call. Could be worth checking out the Trance.
