Not like the trans is good in a JL. The shifting is completely fine. The gear spacing isn’t. And neither is the 3.6.Huckleberry wrote: ↑Wed Jun 09, 2021 12:52 pmIt seems like everyone has complained about the Gladiator . I think they just took the Wrangler trans without changing any gearing whatsoever. One thing the JL trans has is a remote shifter that connects via cables, so that's why the shifter feels numb. The Frontier didn't feel that way. The shifter is bolted to the casing like most longitudinal setups. The trans itself is essentially a 370Z trans with different gearing,Detroit wrote: ↑Wed Jun 09, 2021 10:57 am
The only modern I've driven is a Gladiator, and I really didn't care for it at all. The transmission gearing is all wrong, the clutch doesn't feel like it's connected to anything, the gear shift feels like a videogame joystick, gimme the 8 speed auto instead any day.
My 92 GMT400 was epic. NV4500 trans with granny first, it was basically a 4 speed with a yard stick connected directly to the transmission so you FELT The mechanics of every shift. The clutch was heavy, but had TONS of communication which made it easy to slip if needed. Shift the transfer case in 4Lo with the transmission in granny gear, that thing would pull a house off its foundation. I loved that truck.

It’s super neat-o. I’m gonna be buying a DD after grad school is done and I had been pretty resigned to getting a compact sedan or hatch for the mileage (read: mazda 3)
BUUUUUT Ford grabbed my attention with the Maverick. 40 whatever mpg city with a very nice small pickup? Yes please. I dont really ever need to tow anything so I don’t care about towing capacity. This thing is tempting. I specced a FWD hybrid Lariat Luxury Package model and it landed right at ~30.5 and that’s

This is exactly what Ford wants to happen. I think it makes a great daily, and a nearly fully loaded model at 30.5k isRLWake wrote: ↑Thu Jun 10, 2021 9:50 amIt’s super neat-o. You really should try throwing it up for bros. You might have good luck there since TuRD Bros are so hard to come by.

Probably but the jcw is 60% more fuel efficient. And it is worth 1/3 of what the taco is valued at. I got trade in value of 17k for it… I can’t get anything worth a damn for that amount. And I need at least 1 decent vehicle.

If reducing cost is the goal I think a simple spreadsheet would tell you the true expected 2 year cost and depreciation of the mini would be higher than the taco truck.
If you just don’t want the taco truck anymore that’s a different story.

The idea is to sell taco and lose nothing, not exactly to save money. Selling the mini seems pointless? I can always get another taco shortly here. I highly doubt these prices will maintain. The mini is here to stay for now until electrification. But there are no electric cars with any sort of character. My solar system will be fully operational in September. So plenty of time till then... Also I think we will start commuting soon enough... Taco is a far more comfortable commuter though. I'll continue to feel out the market until then.

Now that I’m looking more into it, I’d probably stick with a Hybrid XLT and save some moolah. That interior on the XLT looks pretty good.[user not found] wrote: ↑Tue Jun 15, 2021 9:41 pmI've always said... make a thing with a truck bed that handles better than a truck and I might buy it. I spec'd an XLT FX4 4x4 for about $32k which seems very reasonable. Would still tow the tiny camper, still haul the bikes, and get way better fuel economy than the Taco.
Also, it doesn't look like a fucking minivan with a truck bed. It's square and characterless, just the way I like my trucks.

I'd be curious about the real world F/E #s. I doubt it'll get more than 22-23ish average for the 2T. That's what I averaged in the mustang without being a brick+heavier + awd.[user not found] wrote: ↑Tue Jun 15, 2021 9:41 pmI've always said... make a thing with a truck bed that handles better than a truck and I might buy it. For the non-hybrid 2.0? Yea, probably low 20's if I had to guess. But it is FWD, which is more efficient than RWD, and it's based off a pretty light platform, so maybe it'll do mid 20's. Will be interesting to see.max225 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 2:06 pmI'd be curious about the real world F/E #s. I doubt it'll get more than 22-23ish average for the 2T. I mean I researched some trucks before buying mine. I never liked the current gen tundra. It’s a hideous bulbous thing that shouldn’t exist because it was half assed from day 1.

It is BEEG. I think its a good truck though. A guy at the gym has one with sweet ramz in that Cavalry Blue with a number of TRD bits on it and it looks pretty butch.
