Yes there are decent days. But I’ll agree to disagree. I would never live there because of the weather. From my experience it’s not worth the cheap cost of entry.
I am not one to mind snow so for me places like northeast are vastly better as far as climate is concerned. So I totally get the Michigan/etc lifestyle but Chicago does get “too cold” at points which is borderline life threatening.

I don't get Texas either. In CA or AZ interior, you can drive to the Pacific Coast, which is almost always this huge climate change. In TX, you are driving from searing heat to the Gulf, which is less searing but 98% humidity.D Griff wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 9:10 pmI’d never live here for a lot of reasons despite the cheapness so we can at least agree on thatmax225 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 9:04 pm

That was my point. Clearly people survive on the North Pole and in subsaharan Africa. Every place on earth has some sort of downside … even Hawaii with the same weather year around has a volcano that can blow them
To pieces at any moment.

Right. That’s kind of the point. And bmw is somewhat blacklisted as she doesn’t really like that brand as mentioned. lifeMexicanYarisTK wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 10:31 pmMacan S is farrrr better than the x3, from the interior, seats, and they're quite fun to hoon, sport + sends 80% of power on the rear wheels. I rode it as a passenger many times in my uncle's, such a fun car and very comfortable.max225 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 2:00 pm
Yea X3 base was great... but would be nice to have something slightly more upmarket. Also kept bitching about the seats in that one... we did spend 12 hrs in one sitting in there so I am sure that didn't help. I think just bmws in general are not under consideration as she seems a bit annoyed with our mini experience and dealers being certifiable rapists. That said... MB/Audi may be same... but going to

So apparently the sq5 and the macan is the same car … I guess I’m not too surprised here. if it’s worth a 30-50% price premium thomax225 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 1:30 pm Back to the question at hand... here are all the front runners:
EVs:
ID4 (big maybe... but the price point of 50k+ and the lack of want from everyone makes it unappealing)
I3 (if prices move below 25k... approaching quickly)
M3 (if there are new incentives and price moves)
MY (if there are new incentives and price moves)
MX (if used prices move below 6 figures)
Non EVs:
GLC43 20+ once prices move below NEW for CPO
SQ5 21+ once prices move below 50k for CPO
Macan S 21+ once prices move below NEW for CPO
Cayenne 20+ once prices return to normal... (getting there quick)
I guess I am back to the waiting game here...
Anything else I am missing... I just added the Macan as it's an interesting vehicle for the woman/myself.
I'm not really a Porsche Koolaid drinker by any means but IIRC there are some significant differences while they do indeed share a platform. I recall hearing on Smoking Tire Podcast that they're built in different factories and the Porsche quality standards in manufacturing are significantly different/higher.max225 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 03, 2022 10:30 amSo apparently the sq5 and the macan is the same car … I guess I’m not too surprised here. if it’s worth a 30-50% price premium thomax225 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 1:30 pm Back to the question at hand... here are all the front runners:

Still, I don't know that I'd pay it either, Audi quality is good enough for me I assume both of those cars are a depreciation nightmare.

Poorsche is made by aryans and the Audi is made by sD Griff wrote: ↑Sat Dec 03, 2022 12:53 pmI'm not really a Porsche Koolaid drinker by any means but IIRC there are some significant differences while they do indeed share a platform. So here is the “front” runner at the moment.
+ all the right options
+ 18” wheels which are impossible to find on Macans as they go as large as 21”
+2 year extra warranty
+should be cheap enough to maintain due to gti powertrain
-baby dick gti engine, maybe slow as balls “for a Porsche”

to be honest. But it may be a little more “fun” I wasn’t a huuuuuge fan of the sq5 driving experience maybe the macan will be better here ? It will be a shared car but both and I gotta enjoy it.

My m3 was shit. The tdi weird at points also… the b8.5 S4 seemed good. The mk7.5 gti seemed good as well.
Seems application dependent. But I really . Have never driven a macan so I can’t say.
That's an expensivemax225 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 03, 2022 1:29 pm https://www.porschemarin.com/used-Mill+ ... 50MLB04692

It's not a bad route though, seems like a nice car.
That's my actual take on the Macan/Q5, but I know that I am because reasons.D Griff wrote: ↑Sat Dec 03, 2022 5:23 pmThat's an expensivemax225 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 03, 2022 1:29 pm https://www.porschemarin.com/used-Mill+ ... 50MLB04692

Golf R is around 45k minimum … (if you can get one without mark up) and is technically faster and has way more power. But the macan is way more DD worthy imo.D Griff wrote: ↑Sat Dec 03, 2022 5:23 pmThat's an expensivemax225 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 03, 2022 1:29 pm https://www.porschemarin.com/used-Mill+ ... 50MLB04692
