Quoting is down.
Thank you, Breh!
It’s easy to get pigeon-holed in this career field, so having that on my resume would definitely be nice for the future. The guy who is in our team-lead role now is likely going to move on at some point. Dude is a wiz with federal contracts, and he’s definitely not being utilized to his full potential here. Can tell he’s getting a bit bored. If I can position myself to promote up into his spot whenever he does leave, that would be great.

Seems legit, nice that there's a path to work towards that in your organization as well.SAWCE wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2024 1:43 pmI’m
Considering applying to a leadership program in my organization. There’s an information session on Monday that I’m going to attend. I wouldn’t want to be in my bossbro’s spot, but being the team lead right underneath him or another branch chief could be cool.

It’s really a solid place to be. .gov pay will always be below market value, but the benefits help balance things out, and they’ve been working towards fixing the pay disparity the last few years which has helped.D Griff wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2024 2:47 pmSeems legit, nice that there's a path to work towards that in your organization as well.SAWCE wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2024 1:43 pm

Hosting one of Michelle’s friends and her husband for the weekend. Did a little hike to a lookout/view point yesterday. Pretty cloudy day, but we were still able to see all five of the big mountain peaks up here.

Here’s the Washington side with Mt St Helen’s, Mt Rainier, and Mt Adams from left to right.

Our local-ish Mt Hood.
Thought I did, but apparently I didn’t get a shot of the other Oregon peak, Mt Jefferson.

Great question. I’ll have to look. I imagine there’s some since there is a lot of foliage, but things stay so green year round that I imagine it’s lower than other places where it gets more dry like California.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Oregon_wildfires just FYI.... oregon had massive fires at the same time as cali. Reason why I remember is I worked with someone who had to evacuate and they were in the portland area... Its wild... Forests = fire basically anywhere on the planet... and with the dry spell we had it isn't overly surprising.

Yeah looks like our town is listed as moderate and the town we’re considering down the road is more severe risk. Good to know.max225 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2024 4:53 pmhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Oregon_wildfires just FYI.... oregon had massive fires at the same time as cali. Yeah the whole living in the forest thing is

I don’t think it’s nearly as common back east, people on our barrier islands and coasts have much more to worry about and the insurance costs that go along with it.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2024 11:39 amYeah the whole living in the forest thing isbut you 100% need to understand that ALL OF YOUR SHIT could be vaporized. If you're cool with that, you are good to go as long as you can find and pay for insurance to cover said event. I'm good with renting out my mountain living.

Welp, some people are on the way from Alabama supposedly to buy the Orange Crown Prince Miata. Wish me luck that things go smoothly and they leave with it.

So I got the promotion right? Apparently I can’t start the new job for 90 days because my current manager is refusing to give me up.
What the fuck. If I was leaving the company they’d get 2-4 weeks notice and have to deal with it.

It was not a smooth transaction. I will post deets in a thread tomorrow. But the car is no longer in my driveway.

Meanwhile the underling filling your new role will just get better at it and be even more salty when you come in
