So Outbacks seem to dive off a cliff first year or two then remain somewhat steady.

A 2018 3.6R is like $27-28k (over $10k drop from new) has Apple Carplay, HK audio, can be had with cream leather interior, and gets 27 highway on donkey piss. Seems to check a lot of boxes, it's just kind of huge. Maybe not an issue.

Y'all think the 3.6 engine is worth it over the 2.5?

3.6:
256 HP, 247 lb-ft
6.9 seconds to 60
20 city / 27 highway

2.5:
175 HP, 174 lb-ft
9.4 seconds to 60
25 city / 32 highway

A Forester with the same 2.5 motor is about a second quicker with better fuel mileage, so I guess if the 2.5 is the answer the Forester is the platform to get. Shame the new Outback turbo is like $38k when you get it with a tan interior.

Then the next question is: Outback 3.6 or Grand Cherokee V6? Both are about the same amount of money. Outback is a bit quicker and better fuel economy.

Basically. Do you even DFD?

My Gladiator wanders all over the highway, has no headroom, and has made me deaf.
Yea honestly I don’t see how going from an STI to a jelly belly CUV is not an improvement of 300%. How soft does that ride need to be ? You’d think a bit firmer ride would actually let you cling on to whatever is left of the car guy soul.

I drove the last gen CX5 through bombed out sf over a bunch of needles and bums, pot holes and cuntstruction. And it was perfectly adequate.
I want my car guy soul to die a fiery death. I want to be a normal :derp: that thinks of the car as an appliance that takes them to places. I just don't want to drive something full turtle.

Just my stupid feels; I’d go for the JGC if it were me, but I think the Outback 3.6 is the better vehicle for you.

We can take that Outback 3.6 from your lot to the CDJR dealer for some hot dogs, macaroni salad, sodas, and test drives. :fuckyeah:

I have been. I'd be fine with a 4 cyl late model Rav4 (reliable, drive nice, somewhat quiet, quick enough, etc) but the way they look :gaydance: little rat faced things with nonsensical interior ergonomics, I just can't do it. New one is too expensive.

Last gen Forester is so damn frumpy and very rattle prone. Every one I test drove rattled like crazy. But again drove well, felt quick enough, handled pretty great for what it is. I'd get annoyed at it way too quickly.

CX5 is rougher than I want but otherwise a nice vehicle.

Ford Escape, Rogue, Mitsubishi anything, H/K, just no. And the CRV is the epitome of minivan-becomes-CUV, it's 1,000% mom spec with a nice side dose of fuel dilution.

Kinda don't really know what to do. You can look at the used premium stuff but :gay: 91 octane requirements start to come up because they're all turbo, plus :gay: maintenance requirements and :gay: service costs, bleh, I just don't care for that.

I really like the 2013-18 or whatever year RDX. That V6 is silky smooth and makes nice power, especially compared to something like the 2.5 in the CX5. They ride well too and don’t totally suck to drive. :iono:

Red interior? Take a pic if you check it out. Could be :tits: if it’s an oxblood red.

Red stitch comes up as red in a decoder, it's black leather with suede and red stitching.
Got it. Probably looks cool in person.

I still think this is the winner as well, RDX is the smaller one, right? I'd definitely be looking at those but I am talking out my ass as I really know nothing of this category. NA V6 is the way to go here though, for JP. No lag, no high maintenance, no summer city heat-soak, all the powah to avoid dangerously slow.
