Yea, these thing are by no means rare, and they're still produced in volume. It makes ZERO sense to pay so much for a used one...especially one like mine that wasn't equipped with anything special. Just a run of the mill Sport.max225 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 17, 2022 11:49 am My local Subaru dealer has 35 cross trannys in stock…

I actually have a friend that bought a new Cucktrek after my story. He bought a Limited, which is a step up from the Sport with the same engine. He got it from the same dealer I got mine from, and paid MSRP. He took delivery of it in January, and had to wait for the title to come before getting a Carvana offer, which he did last week. It ended up being above MSRP, but below his OTD price, which is quite a turn from my experience that was $4.5k above my OTD price, and $8k over MSRP.
Assuming the Sport trim isn't a glitch in the matrix (it might be), it looks like Carvana is getting a tad more realistic when it comes to Cucktreks. I clearly managed to sell at peak.
My friend bought the car to keep it, but the dealer has multiple Limiteds in stock and he figured he'd flip it if he could make a few grand and just buy another one.

In the car Thread I posted what’s been going on… 6 consecutive weeks of decline at wholesale … and everyone is sitting on their shitty overpriced used cars at the moment … gravy train endedDetroit wrote: ↑Thu Feb 17, 2022 12:39 pm I actually have a friend that bought a new Cucktrek after my story. All the situation needs is an increase in new car inventories (which appears to be happening) andmax225 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 17, 2022 12:41 pmIn the car Thread I posted what’s been going on… 6 consecutive weeks of decline at wholesale … and everyone is sitting on their shitty overpriced used cars at the moment … gravy train endedDetroit wrote: ↑Thu Feb 17, 2022 12:39 pm I actually have a friend that bought a new Cucktrek after my story. People are really stupid. Once the country avg is over $5/gal, the media will have a field day and the gonna go
$40k Geo Metros, Prius will be "sold out" for "30 years", my 4R will be worthless, etc.

I guess I just don’t see how the “rest of the country” will react any differently than California. 4R still sold out here, giant lifted monster trucks on 40” tires everywhere etc.
We do have a far greater share of hybrids and evs though, yet electricity costs 2x more here than elsewhere also

I said country average. Which is probably like $10+ in CA and most cities before a place like Texas, Montana, or Michigan gets to $5+.max225 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 17, 2022 4:31 pmI guess I just don’t see how the “rest of the country” will react any differently than California. 4R still sold out here, giant lifted monster trucks on 40” tires everywhere etc.

Plus, income for most of the country is still relatively lower than CA.

I have not bought gas for commuting in....a year and a half? I think I'm on my 3rd or 4th tank in the volt in the same time period.
Filling up the wifes car with 93 was a bit of a shocker tho.

So now they’ve officially had it for 2 full months… still sitting at 33,995Detroit wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 11:29 am Can finally close this thread out. After nearly a month from selling it, the Cucktrek hit Carvana...

$34,990 asking price. They paid me $34,405 for it. So $585 difference. They had to pay someone to pick it up, transport it somewhere, then clean the entire thing (it was pretty dirty). AT BEST they break even.
Wild.

I'm really curious to see how long they keep it or how low they drop the price. Drove by our local dealer on Monday and they had ~10 new Cucktreks parked out front. New inventory is building, I managed to sell at the peak.max225 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 23, 2022 10:08 amSo now they’ve officially had it for 2 full months… still sitting at 33,995Detroit wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 11:29 am Can finally close this thread out. Carvana has had the Cucktrek for 3 months almost to the day.
Still $33,990, which is $500 less than they paid me for it.
How long will they sit on it, or how low will it go?

90 days is pretty in this market. They're clearly committed to pumping prices more than moving volume. Fuck em.
