Yuuup. Still boggles my mind that Tesla is the absolute most American vehicle made and I picked mine up at “libtarded” California at the factory… which Toyota deemed unprofitable
Makes sense for Tesla, keeping everything local is easier.
GM and unions killed NUMMI, not Toyota. Toyota didn't have enough production volume to keep the plant going by themselves, plus they wanted out of dealing with the UAW. Factor in their more established supply chains in the midwest, and NUMMI made no sense FOR THEM.
But to a new car company looking to produce VOLUME, it was a good fit. I'm sure there were serious efficiency gains for Tesla to engineer and produce a vehicle in the same region, it might be a main reason they've made it as a company
They made Tacomas and corollas … how does it not have enough volume? That said probably spot on about unions doe
If I had bought a BMW or Merc I'd be at the dealership so fast. IDK, I guess I've been dealing with GM issues most of my life.
I also don't have much faith in the average shop tech.
It grates me thinking back to all the hand wringing I had to endure at GM whenever Cadillac was involved. They had their own HQ, design studio, engineering tolerances, etc. It was a MASSIVE pain in the ass. I always argued that until the cars were built in their own plant with different standards, none of it would matter. And here you are.
The biggest difference I've noticed is the care they're taking in addressing the issues I'm having. That's a genuine plus. Otherwise it's on par for everything GM. Idk, doesn't seem any better or worse built than the truck or Camaro. Just better materials.

It could have rolled down the line with the Camaro when they were building those...
Hopefully the brand takes care of you, that and materials are the only differentiator.

Normally I'd shit on BMW's endless list of pattern failures in engines, but the B58/S58 seem to be reliable and quite potent.
Fucking finally, right?
