Older chassis, awful interior, 2.4 natty engine instead of the neverlose 1.5T, the ILX has hardly any redeeming qualities. But it does get that 8-DCT transmission.

2.0 CVT probably doesn't really suck. I mean its close to 160 HP anyway. The 140 HP Elantra I drove felt alright but needed an additional 20 HP..... which this has....max225 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 3:55 pmThe civic sport sedan only comes with 2.slow... but is it that much worse than the baby dick turbo ?troyguitar wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 3:51 pm
They have a decent DCT on the ILX that I'm amazed isn't available on the Si.
That dct was lame in the ilx. Overall I wasn’t a huge fan of it, helped my co worker get a 2016 ilx a spec, lame car
There's kind of no reason not to get the turbo though. The Honda 1.5T doesn't seem to have heat soaking issues like VWs do.

Wasn't that solved by ECU reprogramming to limit boost until the engine is up to temp?

I just don't like shifting gears myself all that much anymore, I don't see the point. I don't have fun driving from point to point in the city. With an automatic I'm notably calmer and happier just putting around than I am if I have to shift.D Griff wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 3:44 pmit's such a great and so easy. I rocked it in Miami traffic and it was fine. Some modern manuals are so easy I don't really understand why it's an issue for people. Not saying the STI is that, but have you driven an Si? Clutch is feather light, shifts are crisps, it's great.
Ever get stuck behind a latino work transport van? Stops every half a block to let out, and of course he has to take his sweet time thanking everyone and saying goodbye and WHOOPS forgot my lunch box gotta crawl back in and get it.
Let's not forget it takes me 15 minutes and roughly 30 stop signs to even get onto a highway.
If the STI had a dual clutch or something I'd just keep it.

The reason is there is no 1.5 sport auto. Only 1.5 touring which is 27k but they do throw 4/5k on the hoodJohnny_P wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 4:10 pm2.0 CVT probably doesn't really suck. It’s a real 4 seater/cf carrier with as much space and any shit cuv for 30% less money and it’s not bogged down with pointless awd most don’t Need.
And to top it off it’s fun to drive. And nothing else is for 23k...
Annnnd about oil consumption.
I am sure you can try to do a straight trade from sti to that at a honderp dillerman. 0 out of pocket and likely 1.9% interest

Yeah it is worth a drive I guess. I do kinda still want AWD though. It has been such a nice upgrade from FWD.max225 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 4:40 pmOh snap they added it ... the hatch on that car is massive.troyguitar wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 4:39 pm There's a 1.5T sport auto if you get the hatch. $23kish MSRP

Yet you still run winter tires... I think not having to switch tires is the best upgrade the rest... you said you're ing around anyways. The civic is fun for ingJohnny_P wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 5:04 pmYeah it is worth a drive I guess. I do kinda still want AWD though. Right
AWD is awesome because tons of grip no wheel hop no torque steer no one wheel peel bullshit. Run into a huge puddle at speed and it tracks bullet straight. And I don’t care what any video says, AWD is so much better in the snow (that we apparently don’t even get in Philly anymore).
The van was high power FWD and disgusting. Wheel hop, one wheel peel, torque steer, all from accelerating normally in a light rain.

Yea Van is the worst FWD experience known to man 70% weight up front, high power, high gears, 0 fucks given about anything. The civic is better balanced, an it has 235 TIRES, pacifica runs on the same yet it has to pull 50%+ more weight. Civic has less less power, but honestly try one... its really its no scoobaru, so you just have to get past that and frankly that comparison isn't exactly fair because you're paying 50% less.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 5:42 pmRight

Went to the local yuro trash specialist for an oil change and one of the guys there built this thing.
A4 B7 2.0T converted to quattro, with RS4 fenders, interior and brakes.
A for effort and ingenuity, but it’s just looks odd, especially from the rear.
Oh and plate reads AUDI UTE.

I don’t know how the millions of non-lsd FWD cars get anywhere in the frozen north.
Tires>>>>>>>>>AWD>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>lsd

Kind agree, however we have only had half a dozen days or less that required any three of the above.
It would be much cheaper to own/operate a fwd car with winters then an awd on ballz-seasons I'd it came down to just that.

With the exception of the folks that travel through high elevations with real snow, having AWD or an LSD isn’t really required
Honestly, the absolute worst thing in snow is a 2wd pickup. Everything after that is an improvement.

True dat, the 240sx on crappy tars was a close second and I pulled it off with two years of driving experience... climbing slight inclines on a 30 degree approach angle the whole way up lol. Most of us are rich enough to have enhanced driving experiences so it comes down to what we each want most. I like the awd personally but can downgrade to 2wd, even rwd on snows in the future without batting an eye.

Looks like it might be a Smyth conversion?
