I made out like a bandit on one of my last two stocks (Hydro One sold at near peak, just because I wanted to take the 25% profit off of the table), but took a big haircut on my last remaining stock today (Caterpillar). Net loss on the second stock was 2 to 3k on the 7k I paid, no show stopper but I'm going to keep the rest of the money sitting there until rock bottom is firmly established. Not sure what it will be invested in yet but it is probably insignificant anyways, I'm about to mentally and financially hibernate for a while.

Dow closed down basically 3,000 points. We’ll be under 20k tomorrow.

I was heavy in airline stock. :ohwell:
My position is overly ridiculously cash heavy, so it's not a massive deal. 401k, I'm too young for it to be a concern yet, just keep contributing.

I'm gonna buy buy buy buy once its showing strength again.

#metoo I am not concerned about it, my only investments are retirement funds. I haven't even looked at them, not planning on it, but will keep on contributing.

I talked to my parents (dad just retired) and fortunately they had pulled five years of living expenses out of the market prior to all this in the case that it happens, relieved that they will weather this OK, as I'm always a bit concerned with their long term in retirement.

What you guys are missing is, if you’re poor everyone else is poor also, situation hasn’t really changed. House prices about to crater next :) those with 80%+ of their money in cash seem to be up for a feast.

Everything on discount, so your purchasing power isn’t actually changing

Nah this will, like almost everything, increase the gap between the peasants and the lords.

Everything isn't going to zero for everyone. We're just going to see a lot of people who were working class or middle class become poor very quickly. Brogrammers at AMZN might see their net worth go down 30%, but instead of having 10x the average they will now have 20x because the average went down way more than 30%. (numbers made up)

I made a conscious choice to liquidate my holdings in stocks/corvettes to fatten up my real estate holdings, at times I wish that I still played the market like when waxer posts in the investment thread. :ohwell:

Bumping this one up from the dead. Got a decent amount of cash that I don't have immediate use for, and trying to decide what to do with it. Nothing makes any sense to me anymore with regards to the market, so should I just hold onto my cash for a while and wait for a dip to get more involved?

A friend of mine introduced me to Wealthfront. It’s a service that manages your investments for you based on risk tolerance that you set up. His portfolio is up 80% since he started with them. Basically they sell/buy/trade your money.

It’s free up to $5,000 of managed funds but requires a $500 minimum in the investment account. I can send you a referral and it gives us both an additional free $5,000 of funds managed for free.

The management fee is nominal and it takes the stress away from checking stocks and investing/moving shit away especially if you don’t have time for it.

I still use robinhood for casual trading if I need to and then I have Coinbase to dip my feet into crypto as well.
