Yeah even that GMT400 is still a behemoth to me but it's tiny compared to current trucks. Looking further, it appears that if I were to truck I'd be after something more like the 2-door S10 Blazer/Jimmy GMT330. V6+5MT with 200ish hp, 100 in wheelbase, 177x68 in footprint, 67 cu ft cargo space, 5500 lbs tow capacity, 3500 lbs curb weight, 35 ft turning diameter, 23 mpg highway. Can tow anything I'd ever want to tow while still fitting in my garage and small parking spaces...

That for the 2 door? They were pretty neat. Kind of wide though. A friend of mine had one in high school when I lived in Texas. They'd go mudding all the damn time. Truck was pretty good for that.troyguitar wrote: ↑Fri Jan 20, 2017 10:00 pm Just looked it up, I guess it was a GMT400 blazer/tahoe. 188 inches long, 77 inches wide, 4500ish lbs, V8 RWD with 99 cu ft of cargo space. It's essentially a big ass station wagon. 38 ft turning circle with 16:1 steering ratio too, so more maneuverable than a- hell it probably has the same steering wheel

They go for a lot now because the 2 door GMT400-based Blazers were kind of rare.

They were pretty crappy, honestly. People that had them seemed to love them. Well, even if you could find one... a GMT400 is between 18 and 25 years old. Chances of crippling rust are high.[user not found] wrote: ↑Fri Jan 20, 2017 10:43 pmAnd they rust quickly too.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Fri Jan 20, 2017 10:42 pm

AFAIK there isn't really another vehicle that can tow 5000 lbs and haul a bunch of shit in it without being 70+ inches wide, 180+ inches long, and 4000+ lbs.
I hate driving wide vehicles but apparently I'm the only one who feels that way.

If they made something like that with modern aero and powertrain options it could be pulling 30+ mpg on the highway. Instead we get massive bulbous FWD-based crossovers with no space inside and no towing abilities.maxtdi wrote: ↑Fri Jan 20, 2017 11:28 pmYep. As my my 2003 JGC. If it had the 3.6 + 8 speed it would be perfectly fine. It also was 3800lbs or so at the time ... which is light for what it was.troyguitar wrote: ↑Fri Jan 20, 2017 11:32 pmIf they made something like that with modern aero and powertrain options it could be pulling 30+ mpg on the highway. The 68x175 inch footprint of the 2 door jimmy is Yaris iA territory (67x172 for that one). Super compact, yet with the interior space of a Q5 and tow rating of a base Colorado.maxtdi wrote: ↑Fri Jan 20, 2017 11:31 pmYea trucks and SUVs are for 0fg motoring if you anyone thinks they "handle" great they are fking mental.troyguitar wrote: ↑Fri Jan 20, 2017 11:19 pm

Yep my buddy's parents had one. It was an epic 0fg SUV that did eveything today's "truck" crowd wants to do and then some. Unfortunately it popped the tranny thanks to no one servicing it because ... 0fg andtroyguitar wrote: ↑Fri Jan 20, 2017 11:37 pmThe 68x175 inch footprint of the 2 door jimmy is Yaris iA territory (67x172 for that one). That 4.3 is pretty stout doe... although you'd hate it. Big dick power to 3200rpm and then nothing but wheezing

You might see these return. Bronco will cause 4Runner updates. And might tempt Chevy to bring back a Colorado based Blazer.troyguitar wrote: ↑Fri Jan 20, 2017 11:32 pmIf they made something like that with modern aero and powertrain options it could be pulling 30+ mpg on the highway. The XJ has a pretty strong tow rating and an even smaller footprint thanks to Unibrody. But good luck finding one for a decent price thanks to eveyone basically treating them like garbage for the last 20 yearstroyguitar wrote: ↑Fri Jan 20, 2017 11:37 pmThe 68x175 inch footprint of the 2 door jimmy is Yaris iA territory (67x172 for that one). A 1st gen V6 auto Liberty with the tow package (trans cooler) is rated to 5k lbs. Cheap as dog shit because nobody wanted them.maxtdi wrote: ↑Fri Jan 20, 2017 11:42 pmThe XJ has a pretty strong tow rating and an even smaller footprint thanks to Unibrody. The wrangler is probably around there. It is literally a very very small vehicle the fender flares make it "73" or whatever but it is still easy as f to park.troyguitar wrote: ↑Fri Jan 20, 2017 11:44 pmThey won't return. A Colorado is fucking HUGE compared to these things.

Also they are bringing the truck version next year for those that think the lack of a roof is "utility"

Yep. They're out there though. I mean, I always hated them. But if you're NFG and just want something compact that can tow.... it's not a bad choice.
174" is pretty short
