Yeah I'm :notsure: if I'll actually use them but I guess it's :neat: anyway.

I don't understand how the hands-free key stuff works yet. It appears to unlock when I get to the door, but not lock when I walk away... so it's not really hands-free unless I'm doing it :wrong:

Hmmm do you have to lock it when you walk away? I think on my car at least i push a button on the door as I walk away... yes... terrible inconvenience.

Should unlock when you put your hand in the handle. To lock it there’s usually a little button on the handle or you just tap the fixed side of the handle.

My wife doesn't understand why I "hug the steering wheel". I don't think I do, but I like being closer from my :stig: days.

People bitch all the time that there isn't enough headroom in the JL/T...they hit their heads on the roll bar because they insist on sitting so far back. I have zero issues and find it to be perfectly comfortable.

my ex Honduran's position is just like that cause she was 4'10, which made the legroom of her 2000 Civic coupe like a 7 series

You also have to remember most people sit way too far back and are locking their knees to depress the clutch. Every time someone my height gets in my car they’re always like “OMG this is so claustrophobic, how do you sit this close?”

:stig: life.

I think the back seat is cool to have, I wouldn’t want to ride 8 hours in it, but nice that it works if needed.

:dat: is how I can fit in the C5 with a helmet on, my head is in front of the bar thing. At this point it's just more comfy for me to sit in a "driving" position, and I feel like I'm in control. There is at least 8" beind my Sparco seat in the 'vette and I'm 6'2"... could make it have a back seat like the 86.

I'm debating whether to bother with something like Krown rustproofing vs just running the thing through the touchless car wash with underbody spray frequently. Thoughts?

Similarly is it worth blowing $500+ on ceramic coating for a DD that'll be stored outside and run through a (touchless) automatic car wash?

It's technically a violation of my lease to wash cars in our driveway, plus I'm not going to do that during the 6 months of shit weather each year anyway. I'd rather roll through the automatic wash a couple of times a month and be done.

On the former there are a bunch of guys on here (Chris and Zil among them I believe) who jerk it pretty hard to some kind of oilish thing you spray on? I would do something in that environment.

On the latter you can buy a Griot's garage DA polisher and some pads you'll have for life for $150ish, then buy 50 bucks worth of ceramic and put it on yourself. Its just "paint correction" and wipe on wipe off. Ceramic rules I would do it every two years in that shithole, as well as the underneath goo these other guys will remind you of.

Troy can’t DIY as even washing the car in his driveway violates his lease agreement.

It's already too late to DIY weather-wise.

I've used Fluid Film in the past with fantastic results. I'm going to spay it on the wife's JL before this winter.

At the minimum, it keeps nuts and bolts from rusting, which is huge if you actually work on the vehicle. It'll also prevent cancer down the road.

I'm definitely trying ceramic once we're in the ;triggered: house. Seems 5/7. My Harbor Freight Chicago (or whatever rust belt city brand) DA is great.

I run the BMW through touch car washes NFG, kinda sucks, but when you're renting, it's better than nothing. I'd try to ceramic coat the 86 prior to doing so if you can, since I imagine it's more of a long term car you care about.

I was completely underwhelmed with ceramic coating on my ZR2 that spent its entire life outside. It really didn't last much longer than a normal wax.

My :poorvette: however, was fantastic. I ceramic coated it once in 3 years and even to the day I sold it, it looked :mindblown: awesome.

I've concluded that DIY ceramic coating (I used CQuartz) is best for vehicles that live inside. Lasts WAY longer than wax. If they're outside...the longevity just isn't there to be worth the hassle.

With my vehicles being garaged now, I might ceramic coat them. But I'll probably skip the hassle and just do wax.

I've heard that the ceramic coating done by professionals is WAY better, but then you're looking at a rather :waxer: proposition then.
