Shats started up today. Had a bit of a misfire and then evened out. The gas was over a year old and I only diluted it with 2 gallons. I think between that and the ecu needing to relearn, it took a bit. But the thing is alive and running well now...finally a timing job i didnt botch.

I spoke too soon, its throwing p0016 and p0017 which means crank and cams are out of time. wtf? Replacing sensors first and then if that doesnt work ill retime it again. Read a PI from 2009 that early ecotecs had a washer on the crank sprocket that obscured the true timing dimple, and also had a sikilar dimple that wasnt the true timibg reference. God damn it. Hoping it is the sensors.
Retimed it again today, I had it a tooth off. The dimple on the washer (which was pressed hard on the sprocket) was about 15* off from the sprocket mark once I pried it off. Put it back together and its stalling soon as it fires. Le sigh.
Took it out for a good spin today, it is now building full boost at 15-16lbs, so the ecu must have been learning. I still dont have readiness for emissions test, but a couple more cat heating cycles and it should be okay. It does smell...rather burny after some of these drives but i thinknits just things getting hot that should be hot, and havent been for a year. No oil or coolant smells.

Glad to hear she's running strong. In4modz.

modz plan:
intake
charge pipes
high flow cat
tune
BC coils
some actual tars
some non chrome ramz
new fenders
ruby red satin wrap with graphite satin accents??
going pretty much all in now because fuck it, why not. Should be a reliable 300-310hp and 375ish ft/lbs on 27lbs of boost in a miata wheelbase but 245+ tars. YOLO.
